FLISoL 2012 in Cuba

FLISoL main poster in Havana

Hello,

These days we have been really busy here ... it happens that elav and I'm one of those who organize the FLISOL here in Cuba, specifically in the capital (Havana). As you all know, the FLISOL It is the most important event of the year for our area (Latin America), that's why people are always looking forward to it ... wishes to share, attend events, etc 🙂

For example, here in Havana (capital of Cuba) A lot of conferences were given, several PCs were made available to the public at the headquarters here, showing games, multiple educational and entertaining games for the little ones in the house, as well as other PCs for the public to install them ... In fact, several of us (the ones in charge of the event) installed several distros (openSuse for example) and we show the installation process, so that it is not thought that it is as complex as it is said 😀

Also, as we know that sooooo many of those who attended were users of Ubuntu, computers with games had installed Ubuntu 12.04, yes ... with different environments, in some it was Unity, in others Gnome3 + Shell, in others KDE and in others Xfce.

I leave you photos of the day before (April 27) with us preparing the conditions for the event:

The PCs arrived to reinstall (Photo 1)

The PCs arrived to reinstall (Photo 2)

That was the day before… there was still the best 😀

Conferences and presentations at FLISoL:

As I said before, many conferences were given (as always), here is the list:

  • No Room to be Naive: Migration to Free Software is a Vital Necessity.
  • Diskless PC Deployment on GNU / Linux Servers
  • Basic introduction to GNU / Linux
  • Debian GUTL and Install me. Debian Live CD / USB for low-performance machines and its installer.
  • Network Administration with GNU / Linux
  • The Free Software Movement seen from the Social Sciences
  • Current state of Nova (Cuban distro based on Ubuntu).
  • Migration Guide to Open Source Applications (version 2.0)
  • Introduction to Django
  • Agile Development Methodology, Getting Real, by 37signals
  • Developing REST API for Django with Spine
  • Brief overview of CMS and its current state
  • HumanOS experiences
  • MiVi. Web content publishing system (video, audio, images, flash).
  • Process Management System of the University Student Federation
  • Sunshine, a document management system written in Django
  • By the ways of PostgreSQL
  • Cuban Business PostgreSQL. Portfolio of services
  • Diploma in Postgresql Database Technologies
  • Influence of the Cuban Technical Community of Postgresql and its Web Portal
  • Postgresql Server Management Server

How do you see ... sooo many conferences 😀

If someone wants the PDF or ODT of a presentation, tell me and I'll get it and put it here for download.

In addition, many know that here it is difficult to access the internet and use online repos, so we made available to copy a lot of repos from various distros, so each one copied the repo of the distro that he uses on his laptop or HDD, he takes it with him home and bingo, even without internet you can use your distro 100% 🙂… I estimate that more than 50 people copied the 60GB that was the Ubuntu 12.04 repo, as well as other Centos, Debian, etc.

Also, we put more than 40GB of ISOs from a lot of distros, hehe… not bad, right? 😀

The following wallpaper was put on the PCs ... made by me in a few minutes, haha so soft with the criticism, because I'm a terrible designer I know, but at that time there was no one else available to make the wallpaper LOL !!!

I leave here more photos:

Was everything interesting? 😀

But that was only here in the capital (Havana), it was also developed in many other places, you can read about it on the website of GUTL: FLISoL 2012 news at GUTL

Well that, what do you think about it? … this FLISOL I did not take home as many memories as the previous one (see memories of FLISoL 2011 for kzkggaara), but yes the guys from Firefoxmania They gave me a pretty cool Firefox handle, elav he also has his 😀

If you want to disclose how it was or what was done in the FLISoL of your country, here with GREAT pleasure we put it, it is about spreading what is done ... that it is seen that we are not so few, that there is interest, that the events that support Free Software are great 😀

regards

I attended mine in Montevideo. Few people. In a flat, people who brought their machines to install Ubuntu or Fedora (the only distros). In the other, lectures on the new version of Ubuntu, the attempts of adoption by public companies, copyright and how threatening it is ……… little thing.

    1.    KZKG ^ Gaara said

Here you can not do that of bringing the PCs but ... haha, I have always liked the idea haha

  2.   Courage said

You will remember me when they put two hosts on the street for putting photos of you here.

I have a feeling that I would not get out of there alive for 2 reasons:

    - Elav's carcamal touching my nose
    - The ubuntoos

By the way, with that Madrid shirt they have put it folded into you, with no intention of offending, but there is a missing line on each sleeve.

    1.    KZKG ^ Gaara said

HAHAHA …. yes, I wanted to see you here with so many Ubuntu fans ... LOL !!
The Madrid shirt is not original, it is a rough copy because the original costs a lot, I don't care if it is missing a line haha.

Pfft my FLISOL was quite boring and I had to mount flames, imagine xD

      2.    Courage said

If you know how to search, it does not cost a lot, another thing is that you are a lazy who only finds them at € 70 or that

        1.    KZKG ^ Gaara said

          For me $ 20 is a paste 🙂

          1.    assuarto said

How much is $ 20 Cuban?

            1.    KZKG ^ Gaara said

              Actually I meant $ 20 USD (dollars). 🙂

          2.    assuarto said

So for me it is also a paste 😀

Hahaha, I love your sense of humor Courage 😀

    Great photos KZKG ^ Gaara !! Too bad I couldn't go: C

    PS: I don't like Ubuntu

    1.    Courage said

Well, I mean it. I do not understand the mania with posting your own photos on the internet, they steal them, they use them, they catch you in the street and they put you in hell or even worse, stabbing or shooting at song.

Then they tell me I'm the weird one because I don't put mine ...

      1.    Kitty said

        You do well 🙂

      2.    KZKG ^ Gaara said

        You have a strong trauma O_O ...

        1.    Courage said

It is not trauma, it is caution.

Of course, I will not be the moron who plays two hosts for putting a photo of him on a blog in which he writes with some carcamales that he does not know and that, therefore, does not know if they are bad or good

          1.    proper said

They don't want to give hositas to everyone, that will depend on how hateful a person is ...

            1.    Courage said

For that reason, it is enough to find an asshole who will put two hosts on them or carve them

            2.    elav <° Linux said

Leave the subject compadre. We already know that you do not want to put your photo because they have it sworn for you, enough is enough, because of you we have passed the subject FLISOL, to the topic: Courage hides from the world so they don't put hosts on it.

            3.    Courage said

Do not touch my nose I come with a rebound that you can not imagine

          2.    proper said

elav is right, we already found out that they want to hit you and I don't blame them.

Regarding FLISOL, in my city 4 talks were given, 2 of which I found interesting, the first was "virtualization with VirtualBox" and the second was "Linux Terminal"

        2.    jamin samuel said

What happens is that he believes that all countries or rather that all societies are the same everywhere .. "And it is not like that"

not all societies are violent .. violence is not symmetrically distributed .. it is the environment or the environment in which you find yourself that defines your behavior and your way of thinking and acting ..

If you live in a society where violence, envy, lack of reciprocity, selfishness and individualism are preached ... you will act and behave in the same way.

to make it more concrete .. Cuba is not Spain and Spain is not like Cuba.

          Was it understood right?

          1.    Courage said

It is not a matter of societies, I think, because this site can see everything whichever, wherever they are from.

Imagine that KZKG ^ Gaara wins the lottery and comes on vacation to Madrid, but it turns out that days before he made that trip that he had a move with him with three pairs of balls.

Then it happens that he is going to take a walk to the Plaza Mayor the same day that I am passing by to watch CDs in Preciados and manga in Gran Vïa.

Since I know his face (and keep things) I make sure that it is him and when I have made sure I start arguing with him to the point that he touches my balls and I say two hosts.

How can you avoid that? Very simple, without putting photos in public.

            1.    KZKG ^ Gaara said

First of all, I always try to behave well enough ... that is, I am respectful not to prevent what you say from happening, but because I simply do not like being a bore, or giving bad answers, I like to look good with as many people as possible That's why I'm always (or almost always) a cool guy 😀

Now, following your example ... very simple, if you do everything possible to argue with me, and you miraculously get me, even while on vacation, to argue with you ... and, you give me a couple of hosts, I that you prepared my face for returns, well I'm good at multiplying y: 2 hosts entering = 10 hosts leaving 😉

            2.    Courage said

Or easier, I chorice a syringe and a needle from the institute, that there is no defense that is worth.

And it would all be for a bullshit of a photo

You know what I mean now?

Here behavior is not valid or anything, that not everyone has patience, with me you have an example of almost zero patience, for example

            3.    elav <° Linux said

And, you give me a couple of hosts, as you prepared my face for returns, because I'm good at multiplying y: 2 hosts entering = 10 hosts leaving

Ño, that reminds me of some Cuban cartoons where one mouse says to the other with irony: "Ayy que fear" ¬¬

              xD

            4.    Courage said

Well, to you 3 quarters of the same, you go putting your face there and it is enough that someone catches you and carves you

          2.    KZKG ^ Gaara said

Likewise. Also ... thanks to the fact that I have put a photo of me on the net, or in my avatar ... the guys from Firefoxmania recognized me, as well as the humanOS administratorblog of which we have put several posts here), they recognized me from photos or my avatar (which is the same), we shared pleasant moments 😀

            1.    Courage said

Yeah, but not everyone is nice.

I reiterate, the good ones do not exist, and if they do, there will be like one in a million.

              Ill disguised there are many

          3.    Windousian said

@ jamin-samuel are you suggesting that we Spaniards are violent? I have stayed with your face ¬_¬.

          4.    jamin samuel said

No! .. I'm just saying that the place where @Courage is kept is probably violent .. since the child is too distrustful and believes that the Chinese mafia is after him ^^

            1.    Courage said

I've always been violent, but it's really not that, it's what I've said about bad and good people.

Experience tells me that I have to distrust everyone, because there are many costumes

          5.    Windousian said

Courage has the reggaeton mafia and the ubunctious camorra against him. It is on many blacklists. I would also live cautiously in his place 😛.

    1.    Courage said

That they know a good normal person, but that they know a freak like me?

      Would be dead.

Also, good people like they don't exist, or there is one person in a million.

      There are badly disguised people

    2.    KZKG ^ Gaara said

HAHA yes true, we did not take any pictures together ... LOL !!!
It happens that I was quite busy with various things of the event, and elav was busy with the conferences, we did not have time for a photo ... incredible HAHA.

But hey, there we both went out in one, by chance but we went out haha.

To me if you rule all the pdfs, odts from the network administration part, the one from nova, which made me curious and all those from postgreSQL and MiVi ... you would make me happy. In short, I want everyone !!!!

    1.    KZKG ^ Gaara said

I'll see if I can get them all hahahaha.

  8.   kondur05 said

I was able to attend the one in Caracas, few people, maybe because there was no propaganda, I went because I have been going to the flisol for years at a fixed point, even so I had a good time with the people from ubuntu-ve, who installed the new ubuntu in my little vit, and they gave me the arch iso. I had a good time

    1.    jamin samuel said

that good . at least I'm glad to know that ubuntu-ve are targeting more professional distros like Arch

the ubuntu-ve from aca de maracaibo does not leave ubuntu .. they speak and breathe ubuntu .. that really tires .. everything they teach and the talks they give is based on ubuntu ¬¬

      1.    kondur-05 said

Well, if they breathe ubuntu but are open, they also told me the cons of arch, you know I'm not computer, hehe, I still think I enjoy it.

Here in Argentina, the federal capital, I visited, although for a moment (as I had obligations), the flisol and I have had a very pleasant impression. I already signed up to help in the remainder of the year or in the next event and I fully realized the following: When we are not victims of our ego or personality, free software is an excellent excuse to practice humanity.
Greetings from the south, Cuban brothers, but to you, not to your ego. -alunado.

  11.   anubis_linux said

In my opinion, this Flisol was very, very low compared to those of previous years, it could be said that it was a Flash Flisol, not counting some mishaps that occurred during the same that are not worth telling, we must recognize the great effort of GUTL collaborators. Anyway, I had a great time, I saw faces that I had not seen for a year since last Flisol and I met several friends.

PS: A curious fact in the middle of the Flisol a colleague began to install Window $ 7 ejejej

  12.   truko22 said

TT The flisol that I attend the issues were the same as in the past and the new thing was on each side they put politics. The participation of the Canaima distro was very heated with many tractors. Too many involvement installing Distro on computers. Hopefully the next one will be different and from the air that is appreciated in Venezuela it seems like this = þ

  13.   kondur-05 said

Canaima is a bit late, I use it, and I like it but I think it's time to move on, see when the next cayapa arrives

    1.    jamin samuel said

canaima is not going to improve or update until the stable version of debian is released so that later they will take it and paint it green and launch it as a «Bolivarian» software ahahahahaha

let's see which way the canaima boys are going to take now that gnome shell has arrived everywhere .. will you use canaima gnome shell? Well I doubt it that is a lot of culture for the people here

      1.    KONDUR05 said

old question and without fighting spirit but you are Martian, Chinese or European, I say was a comment a bit racist but hey.

As for the new versions, because you are right until there is a new debian there is no canaima, personally I would prefer that they had taken a path to the pardus, but it is what there is, although if I tell you that to many who in their life never They have used linux they liked that of the names in Venezuelan lexicon, like the cunaguaro.

Now my concept to criticize is easy, but it would be good if everyone participated in the cayapas, (let's see if I have the opportunity to go too), to collaborate, remember that it is the first time that all this is done here and that the capacities are infinite and that Any idea can be included, and I'm looking forward to the gnome shell in Canaima.

        1.    jamin samuel said

Gnome Shell will not enter canaima broder .. it is not by speaking badly, it is that here people will not understand that ...

it is easier to install MATE or LXFE ..

          1.    KONDUR05 said

Let's see, explain your point to me because as I think I understand it, I'm afraid that Venezuelans are underestimated, canaima can come as we want, remember that that's what the cayapas are for, for eo there is a mailing list, in the flisoles I have spoken with people involved in the affair. Of course, it is the government that is promoting this, well that is debatable, but no one else has tried. I still remember when at the university they put the machines with kubunu 6.10 and everything was new and curious, nobody cheered up before, so at least you have to give them credit or do you think?

that reminds me of the love-hate relationship of a rukia out there with ubunchu hehehe
remember those of the mirrors may be others.

            regards

          2.    KONDUR05 said

I forgot you know that in the flisol a company of ubuntu people had an arch on the computer for the first time I saw the gnome shell, and heck I was speechless, and then I understood it hehehe

      2.    truko22 said

I agree jamin-samuel with what he says about canaima 😀

That still goes with these advances, FLISOL continues to be below expectations, this year it was better organized and it looked better ... counting that the famous Debian DVDs were finally released, which had been promised for a year, but anyway For me it was more of the same ... I know that the organizers do everything they can and more, but the problem is that the community is spooky, that is, almost everyone there had to see the world of the world in one way or another. Computer science for study or work reasons, a few home users were seen showing their hair and thus there is no worth migration, in short my sentence is clear… .it was better than the previous one but it still does not manage to be a festival …… sorry yes with this I upset someone but it is like that.

+ There is no room to be naive: Migration to Free Software is a Vital Necessity.
+ Implementation of diskless PC on GNU / Linux servers
