Continuing in my unsatisfactory search to replace Google Reader, I have met fluxreader, and so far from what I've tried, it's becoming the ideal substitute.
fluxreader has a minimalist interface, and making use of Bootstrap manages to obtain an appearance very similar to that of Google Reader, already in that detail a +1 is gained. Another plus point: it's very fast.
For now you only have the basic options of an RSS reader. It allows us to import our subscriptions from Google Reader, but not directly, first we have to download the . Xml.
But not everything is perfect. It is a product that has just been born and of course some things are missing. So far I don't know if it updates automatically or if you have to press the button Update.
Another detail is that I have not found a way to manage my RSS, so I have not been able to delete any. Hey But what did they expect? It still has a long way to go, however, for me it is the best alternative that currently exists to Google Reader.
Now may someone ask me what Feedly? For Feedly very very bad. It is hosted at code.google.com and the very children of its mother are not allowed to have my country access its resources, therefore, it does not serve me. It is also very slow for my taste.
If they want to use fluxreaderWell, they have to send a request to test it, as it is in beta. My approval was delayed two days.
Well, I'll try it… .. It seems interesting, besides that I like minimalist applications.
I do not understand the grace of an rss reader within the browser. I stay with Liferea.
Anyway, thanks for the recommendation.
Very simple .. with an RSS reader in the cloud wherever I am with the Internet I can read my news. Not with a PC client.
If you use several devices, Liferea does not synchronize and you do not know what news you have read. A web application gives you that advantage by default.
@elav @Urizev +1 to both. That is precisely the great advantage of the cloud, having the services on any device.
In the case of Google Reader, I usually read the feeds on my laptop, but if I don't have it at hand I can read them on my mobile, or if I have a free time at the office, I take a PC and read them from there. Super comfortable.
First of all ... do you have keyboard shortcuts (more specifically, J to go down and K to go up)?
If you have that, it's already done 😀
I don't think so .. It is something very recent yet, those functionalities will be added little by little I guess .. that's what the beta is for, to send Feedbacks 😀
Is it possible to share how it could be done in GReader before they put the +1? It was one of my favorite features.
Have you tried The Old Reader (http://theoldreader.com/)?
I have to test it thoroughly, but the last time I did it it didn't catch my eye.
Hey! Hey! I had no idea Google was preventing countries from accessing code.google.com. And under what parameters does Google decide which country can or cannot access its services?
What are the arguments for doing it?
Honestly a real shame.
Didn't you try proxying?
Well, I suppose that the blockade that the USA has against some countries ...
Not bad, although I prefer application. I shoot from akregator.
I've been with him for two days, I hope he's on the right track, still very green. We will track him down.
To taste the colors ...
Too bad that over there in Cuba they are restricting access to Google services .. In general, Feedly is the ideal one, after the closure of Google Reader it captured a quite tempting number of users that I think not even with the opening of Mega hehe xD!
Regards!
I still don't understand why it's restricted…. It looks like things from the cold war….
Someone correct me if I am wrong, the rss has a limitation regarding the entries it stores, I think they are the last 20, so by the time I turn on the machine and open liferea it is likely that the subscription that has 20 new entries may be missing any. And by the way I recommendhttp://theoldreader.com/) is very simple, updates only and for those who are used to sharing what they read it has compatibility with facebook.
And do you have the sharing option that Google Reader had before switching to +1?
It has the option to share and I like it… in my case I registered with gmail and not with facebook but I calculate that it is the same. I have not used it to share but from what I understood if you registered with facebook for example it searches among your contacts and tells you who is registered in the old reader. From that, it allows you to continue among those who are ...
Brief as an extension for Firefox works very well, fast, it updates automatically. https://addons.mozilla.org/es/firefox/addon/brief/?src=search
the old reader is not silly to be only for a select few.
