When we thought that this project was dying little by little, we were surprised with the release of the version 2.7.4, one more step before the version 2.8 and with a interesting list of changes.
In the interface section we have some news such as:
- Add a close button on tabs in single window mode.
- Transformation tools improvements.
- Single window and multi-window modes are always saved consistently in sessionrc.
Users Debian we'll have to wait a bit, and I guess those of Arch they should already have this version available. If you are users of Ubuntu you can now try this new version by adding the following PPA:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:matthaeus123/mrw-gimp-svn
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install gimp
The gossip said that GIMP 2.8 was going to be for 2010 LOL ... I see that not xD
;TO; -I'm going to cry in a corner- I wanted to try the new Gimp ~ but I have LMDE
Alba: I just did an instruction on how to install GIMP 2.7.4 in LMDE
http://lapertenencia.wordpress.com/2011/12/15/gimp-2-7-4-con-modo-ventana-unica-en-lmde/
Greetings and I hope you find it useful!
And a month later ...
Thank you! I already try when I reinstall LMDE; w; sorry it took so long ... I didn't appear on the blog for a while
That's age
«When we thought that this project was dying little by little» 😀
In 2012 gimp 2.8 comes out, they are working to port it to gtk3, I think you are somewhat uninformed.
I mean, the development cycle is too slow. And yes, at least I thought that Gimp was going to die (although I would not have liked the idea) ..
Let's go, who understands people, they said the same about the development cycles of Firefox and now they complain, by the way the development versions are re-stable and you have the latest of this powerful application (at least I do)
I write from my mobile xD Gimp only has a single developer and receives almost no donations
hence development is so slow. What Gimp needs is more people on the team. What would not go wrong would be a change in the set of icons and his thing would be that it be rewritten in C ++, that would trigger the project.
Still I'm looking forward to version 2.8 and I already have 2.7.4 installed (it works great).
Regards!
I didn't know there was only one developer. It is incredible, with the importance of this project that only one person is the one who maintains it. Is it because they want it to or because no one has offered to help?
Pity! Arch has not yet updated: s
But do not say anything that if not elav touches our balls
Let's try it 🙂
It is very good, now we are going to study the new tools
Fuck…. I have installed it and it points well, with many improvements such as rescaling of layers as in Photoshop… .. But the previous installation has screwed up and now GIMP does not work for me in any way. Notice to navigators.
is there a repository for fedora ??? it seems they forgot a bit about the non-ubuntu ones 🙁
