Linux users are being more spoiled than ever lately, thanks to Valve, which your client developed Steam for this platform and a while ago since it is in open beta. But clearly having only the client is not enough, the games are missing! And it is one of the main complaints that the system receives.
However, little by little, they appear new titles for Linux, starting with the classics. |
GNU / Linux users are in luck, Half Life 1, the classic first person shooter game, has been ported natively to our favorite operating system and we can install it through Steam.
The original Half-Life, dating from 1998 !, was one of the games that led to the resurgence of FPS. Let's remember: mods could be made, and one of the most famous was Counter-Strike, which was truly a milestone, played all over the world.
Some might think that the game is too old to remain attractive, but people who grew up playing it will find it just as exciting as 14 years ago.
Those who have Half-Life among their Steam titles, will be able to download it (beware: it is in beta status), and those who will not be able to buy it for 9.99U $ S. The game uses the GoldSrc engine, the same as Quake, but quite modified.
As if this weren't enough, a beta version of Counter Strike 1.6 is also available. To do this, just run Steam using the following command:
~ / .steam / steam / SteamApps / common / Counter-Strike / execute "LD_LIBRARY_PATH =. ./hl_linux -game cstrike"
In the video below you can see how to natively run Counter Strike 1.6 on Gentoo Linux thanks to Steam.
