Happy Birthday Ubuntu

Today, October 20 but 2004 made an appearance Ubuntu 4.10 (Warty Warthog)... mmm I was going to talk about Ubuntu, tell them that it is sponsored by canonical ltd but, I think it is information quite known to all no longer? LOL!!!

Ubuntu It is undoubtedly, to the joy of many and the misfortune of others, the most popular distro today, it is said that has 11 million users already 😉

And yes, I wish this distro a very happy birthday, that it celebrates many more because it has undoubtedly contributed something to our world, maybe not code, maybe a new point of view, it has served as a gateway for multiple users ( eh what elav y yo we are here yes, but we started using Ubuntu like many, so something good has come out of this, right? HAHA), etc.

In order not to make this very tedious and heavy, I will leave you some curious facts about Ubuntu, because I am sure that today all the sites / blogs will give their congratulations, but since I like to be original and different, so in addition to congratulations I will leave you curiosities or interesting information about Ubuntu 😀

1- Ubuntu is not 100% free. This is not a secret, far from it, Ubuntu brings proprietary drivers and other types of software that are, or serve, to use proprietary or proprietary software. We recently talked about 100% Free distros, their advantages and disadvantages, I recommend reading that article.

2- Ubuntu versions have a name and also a version number of course. All the names that Ubuntu versions have had are an adjective and an animal name, an animal that by the way tends to always be in danger of extinction ... LOL !!!

3- Ubuntu versions (I mean the version number) is not just a random number or value, this number is made up of the date that version is released. For example, the version that is currently stable (LTS) is 10.04; 10 of 2010 and 04 refers to the month of April (in April 2010 that version appeared), another example ... the version that has just out of the oven, the 11.10As you can see, the 11th is from 2011 and the 10th is from October.

4- Since the Dapper Drake version (6.06), the names of these have been in alphabetical order.

And finally the best (from my point of view obviously), this image that although it only covers up to Ubuntu Karmic Koala, is great 😀

5 years of Ubuntu

By the way, once a friend (@ gabriela2400) he told me: "if you don't have trolls and heaters then you are not doing a good job«, Putting this into practice ... with so many heaters Ubuntu has, is the phrase really correct? LOL!!!

1- Ubuntu is not 100% free.

A truth like a temple, but if we get fancy, many distros are not 100% free.

There is still enough for my birthday, which is more important hahaha

Ubuntu can be as free as any other distro, we just have to uncheck a few things in the sources.list. And about your birthday ... YOU INVITE ME hahaha

You forget about the bubbles that come in the kernel 😉 it is not so, it is not so simple to make Ubuntu a 100% free distro 😀

In fact it is possible to replace the kernel with a 100% free one. http://www.tutorialesubuntu.com/2009/10/18/ubuntu-100-por-cien-libre-con-el-nucleo-linux-libre/

          Greetings.

hehe thanks for the tip, the negative I would say would be that a lot of drivers would be lost in favor of having a 100% free kernel 🙁

Well I think they are doing such a good job, that I offer to be the troll of the blog. Or if you prefer, I can also be a heater ...

    Thanks for your input.

PS: In the next comment I will utter some insults so that they will not believe that I am a false troll.
