Via Engadget I find out that Norwegian browser users can now enjoy the hardware acceleration available in the latest available version of Opera Next which we can download from this link.
This latest version (12.00 alpha Build 1380) includes many improvements highlighting among them:
- New design for the mail message composition window.
- Styles can be used to gtk3 en Unity.
- Stability in different environments is improved.
You can see the full list of changes in this link. Hardware acceleration is not enabled by default, so we have to enable it manually, just like WebGL. To do so we can click on the following links (from Opera):
opera: config # UserPrefs | EnableHardwareAcceleration
opera: config # UserPrefs | EnableWebGL
We save and restart Opera.
I should also add that this article is written from Opera and this version behaves better than the previous ones in the Administration panel of WordPress. However, many things still need to be solved in relation to HTML5 and other browser functionalities.
I'll try it to see how hardware acceleration works for me
It is at least paradoxical that a proprietary application has such good support for GNU / Linux. Opera has been my main browser for a while.
I prefer to wait to have the integration packages with KDE, currently I use version 11.62
