Google use a link from redirect for a pursuit of the clicks.
Fortunately, there are add-ons for Firefox and Chrome/ Chromium that remove the redirection and convert each search result to the original link, thus saving page loading time and improving security. |
When searching through Google, the results links do not go directly to the site - they first send the user to a page on a Google server which then redirects the user to the page they originally wanted to access.
This mechanism is used to track the search results that users click to thereby, according to Google, "provide us with better content and better advertising in ads."
For many, this isn't a problem, but sometimes when you're on a slow connection, or want to send your friends a link that appears in search results, this can become a very difficult task. Not to mention if you are a "conspiranoid" like me and do not want anyone to mess with your privacy.
Of course, there's always the option of not using Google at all. There are other alternatives like DuckDuckGo , but if you don't want to abandon the search engine giant, you can use some very useful extensions to remove the redirection that Google incorporates into all the links on its web pages (search results, Google+, etc.).
For example, to access the page https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/dress-up-webpage/ from Google +…
