How To Fedora: Install Cinnamon As An Alternative To Gnome Shell

You are not comfortable with Gnome Shell? Continue reading then, since in this how To we will see how to install Cinnamon easily on our computers.

The first thing we must do is open a terminal and log in as root:

su -

We get the repository (it's a single line;)):

curl http://repos.fedorapeople.org/repos/leigh123linux/cinnamon/fedora-cinnamon.repo -o /etc/yum.repos.d/fedora-cinnamon.repo

We update our list of repositories:

yum check-update

Now it only remains to install Cinnamon:

yum install cinnamon

We close our active session. Once our session manager appears, we select from the menu: Login with Cinnamon;).

I see her ugly, I don't like her at all!

I think that in a short time gnome3 will be worth it, now this happens as with kde4, which was very unstable and not very configurable ...

Although I don't know, but it seems to me that the kde team works faster than the gnome ones, I don't know which ones have more collaborators-programmers, but it's just an impression

(I'm done with the off topic)

    If I don't say it, I burst

I do not agree, with KDE 4 what happened is that from the beginning it was very configurable but extremely unstable. Although KDE improved its stability a lot it still has some silly errors and many times regressions are presented in new versions. KDE seems to me that its genius is above its flaws, with a selection of applications, in my opinion, excellent.
I believe that Gnome did not want to repeat the errors of KDE and decided to restrict the configuration of its environment to be able to control the errors that occur in a more limited way

"If I don't say it, I'll burst." Hahahaaaa; like everything in Linux, it's a matter of taste; I can't stand KDE and I still live in peace.

I mean, in the GDM the option to select the type of shell to choose comes out?

        1.    perseus said

That's right friend, from the menu in GDM you can select whether to access with Gnome-Shell or Cinnamon, as many times as you want and when you want 😛
