How to have notifications in KDE similar to Ubuntu

Notifications from Plasma en KDE They are truly useful as they unify certain and certain alerts that could be of interest to users.

The problem that I see is that they lack certain customization options, such as being able to move the position where they are displayed. And if they have this option, at least I haven't found it. This is the typical file copy notification:

Now in KDE we can have notifications similar in appearance to those of UbuntuUsing Colibri, which also, if you allow us to modify in which part of the screen they will be displayed:

At least in Debian, for install Colibri they have to run the command:

$ sudo aptitude install kde-notification-colibri

How to activate Colibri?

We open the System Preferences and go to the section App and system notifications, as shown in the image below:

Once we are there, we will Colibri notifications:

As you can see, we are notified that the notification system that is being used is that of PlasmaTherefore Colibri it won't work until we disable it. To disable notifications from Plasma, we right click on the icon in the notification area and click on Notifications Preferences:

We should get something like this:

As you can see in the image, all the options have been unchecked, as this is how they should be. Once we accept the changes, we can start Colibri.

If we want to use Plasma notifications again, we just have to re-mark all the options that we disable in their preferences

As you can see in the later image, Colibri allows you to modify in which area of the screen the notifications will be seen.

Now, there is something I don't like. Normally, when in the notification options of Plasma we deactivate File transfer and other jobs, we can see the file copy in a pop-up window, as indicated in this post. However, when using Colibri, there is no way to see the status of the copy of these files.

Of course, this may be that I missed doing something, like restarting the session or something similar, but at least it didn't work for me. Anyway, this is the method to use if we want to use this type of notifications 😀

How can they not change their position? You just drag the notifications as if it were a window, that's all.

Mmmm, well when I drag it, it turns them into a kind of Plasmoid and it's not what I want ...

If you don't drag it to a panel, it looks like a plasmoid.

You are absolutely right, the notifications cannot be moved, if you move them they remain as a plasmoid and it is not ideal. Hopefully the next available version that option, as they promised big changes in notifications.

        Greetings.

If I remember correctly, I would grab the notification and drag it to the place where I wanted it to appear. Also I love KDE notifications, everyone seems to hate them for some reason.

    1.    sieg84 said

that's right, just dragging is enough to move it around.

Hello, how are you testing colibri but I don't like it now. I want to know how active my notifier that I had before in my kde, thank you.

Is there a way to leave it so that it behaves like a pop-up window in a colbrí plan and another so that the notice stays? (for example if you get an email or they talk to you by chat)
