How to manage scheduled tasks in GNOME

If you want to turn off your machine at a certain time or do any other GNOME scheduled operation, this quick tutorial can be of great help to you. Actually, the procedure to follow is very simple but not as obvious as in KDE, which already comes with a scheduled task manager.

Installation and use of gnome-schedule

First, we install GNOME Schedule:

sudo apt-get install gnome-schedule

To run it press Alt + F2 and type:

gksu gnome-schedule

Once the program is open, click the button New to create new tasks. There are 3 options available: create a recurring task, a one-time task, or create a task from a template.

Suppose that what we want is to reboot the system every day at 12 at night. To do this, for example, we enter the following data:

Click on Add and ready. 🙂

Note: to turn off the computer, the command to execute would be / usr / bin / shutdown.
