In this era where the use of CD / DVD is becoming more and more obsolete, music ripping has been growing, there are a large number of programs that can rip audio CDs in Linux, but very few are as simple as Sound juicer.
What is Sound Juicer?
Sound juicer is a front-end GUI made in GTK, which allows the user to extract audio from CDs and convert it into formats that the computer or various technological devices can play. It allows the ripping of audio codec that are supported by GStreamer plugin, mp3 (via LAME), Ogg Vorbis, FLAC and PCM formats.
Sound juicer it is designed to be easy to use and works with little user intervention. For example, if the computer is connected to the Internet, it will automatically try to retrieve information from the free tracks available in MusicBrainz.
Sound juicer is free and open source subject to the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL). As of version 2.10 it is an official part of the desktop environment GNOME.
How to install Sound Juicer
Sound juicer It is not installed by default in many distributions so it may be necessary to install from the distribution's software repository. Start by opening the software manager that comes with your distribution.
Search for "sound-juicer" in the software manager.
Once you find the right program, just click install to download and install the latest version available from the repositories.
The Sound-Juicer package includes by default support for vorbis and formats FLAC. For other supports we must install:
gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly to encode to MP2,
gstreamer0.10-lame to encode to MP3,
gstreamer0.10-plugins-really-bad to encode to AAC.
Install Sound Juicer on Ubuntu
sudo apt-get install sound-juicer
Install Sound Juicer on Manjaro
yaourt -S sound-juicer
How to run Sound Juicer
Once installed Sound juicer we must locate it in the menu. On Linux Mint and Ubuntu, Sound juicer it is displayed as "Audio CD Extractor". We can find it in Applications -> Sound and Video.
If there is no CD in the drive, the program does nothing
Once an audio CD is inserted, Sound juicer Automatically detects the CD and allows you to fill in the information for title, artist, year, and track information.
Sound juicer connects to MusicBrainz to determine the CD information. If the CD cannot be found in the MusicBrainz database, you will have the option to fill in the CD information manually and send the disc to future users.
How to customize CD ripping with Sound Juicer
If you want to use a different CD drive, change the music folder or name of the ripped music, or change the music format, click Edit -> Preferences.
Click "Edit Profiles" to change advanced settings on how music rips. There are some profiles to rip installed by default and you can easily add or remove profiles.
Highlight one of the profiles and click "Edit" to change the name, description, and how GStreamer runs to extract the music.
Once everything is set up, click "Extract" to begin ripping the CD.

I use K3B and I don't need any other program to rip music CDs, K3B is very complete. 🙂
excellent simple and effective package thank you very much, does what it should do instantly
Although the process is more time consuming with K3B, it is better than with Sound Juice. I installed it on my computer with Deepin 20 Beta and it did not recognize the CD drives, instead K3B did it immediately. This means that Soun Juice is not as "effective" as it is claimed.
