I want to introduce you to Compose. HTML Editor «WYSIWYG» -What You See Is What You Get- or what you see is what you get. It is a component of the suites icepee en Debian, seamonkey en Ubuntu.
Main Features:
- It is as easy to use as a text editor.
- No special knowledge of HTML is required to use it.
- The buttons on the toolbar allow adding Lists, Tables, Images, Links to other pages, Font Colors and Styles, etc.
- When editing a page, you can see four different views: Normal, HTML Tags, HTML Source, and Preview.
- We can incorporate CSS Style Sheets into our pages.
- Built-in help as part of the suite's general help, be it Iceape or Seamonkey.
- Spell checker «as you type», as well as word-by-word revision at will in the languages that we have installed and declared.
In short, the Composer has many options that you must discover for yourself if you decide to use it.
Recommendations:
Always go from the Simple to the Complex. If you need to make a simple page or website feel free to use this editor. Too bad the interface and Help come in English.
At least I haven't found a way to get hold of the packages in Spanish. If in the end they decide to make a static or mostly static site with complex tools such as WordPress, Drupal, Jomla, etc., which require a web server, a MySql or PostgreSQL database, and PHP as a minimum, I think it would be start with the Complex.
As anecdotal data I tell you that I "discovered" the Composer around 2000 when I was using the NetScape suite, the father of the entire Mozilla family and its derivatives: Firefox, Thunderbird, Iceweasel, Icedove, Iceape, Seamonkey, etc. Personally I even use it to write formatted texts.
I use the OpenOffice Writer to read documents in other formats.
Installation:
En Debian:
aptitude install iceape
En Ubuntu:
aptitude install seamonkey
And have you seen the Kompozer ?. I did not put it to seek participation, but I think we should refer to it. Is the same Compose, but independent.
And until next time, friends!
