From my old blog of Xfce I bring you this simple script to install Xfce 4.8 on Debian Squeeze.
What do we need for this?
- Internet connection.
- Have installed Debian without graphic environment preferably.
Whats Next?
We down this script and we run it as root.
What would we lack?
This script does not download the plugins (goodies) what can we put to Xfce, therefore that would have to be done manually, but that is for another post 😀
And here is what he gave us DebianSick:
1.- As superuser do the command:
ln -s /usr/etc/xdg/ /etc/
2.- Edit the /etc/slim.conf file
editor /etc/slim.conf
3.- Make the following change:
login_cmd exec /bin/bash – ~/.xinitrc %session
#login_cmd exec /bin/bash -login /etc/X11/Xsession %session
4.- We adjust the start of xfce4
cp /etc/xdg/xfce4/xinitrc /home/tu_usuario/.xinitrc
chown tu_usuario:tu_usuario /home/tu_usuario/.xinitrc
chmod +x /home/tu_usuario/.xinitrc
5.- Applications on the panel (wicd, guake, etc) as a normal user we do:
mkdir ~/.config/autostart/
cp /etc/xdg/autostart/* .config/autostart/
6.- We restart the system as superuser:
reboot
Ready!
You have been confused, the blog is not DebianSick, but DebianSucks JAJAJAJAJAJAJA
Definitely, so much use of Windows hurts you.
Is that he uses XP, understand him xD ..
The 7 I have tried little, really
Courage, it's going well, the problem is that it's still windows and you have to take care of it like a child, but it's going pretty well.
Hahaha well, the 7th is not worth anything to me then, I don't like children at all, I have enough to endure 2 daily hahahahaha
Courage, the xp must be taken care of like a baby, since it is the most vulnerable windows of all XD
It seems to me that it is already good .. To talk about Windows to Windows forums .. Come on chu chu chu… get out of here ..
Well, you have started your carcamal
Excuse me elav, how can I have Debian installed on my PC (Base Installation) without a graphical environment? I would like it to be something like Archlinux after its installation.
PS: Thanks for the Script, very useful!
Regards!
When the installation of Debian, there is a step where it asks you to install Graphic Environment. You just uncheck that option and you're done.
Ummm, thank you very much! .. sorry for my lack of understanding but I am just entering this world and I am more eager than ever to give Gnu 😛;)!
Regards!
