Join and develop your applications for Firefox OS

If you are Developer and you are interested in web technologies, you cannot miss the Firefox App Days, a series of events that will take place in more than 20 cities around the world to help you get started developing web applications for Firefox OS.


In this event you will have the opportunity to learn, program and enjoy Firefox OS, Mozilla's open source operating system for the mobile open web.

Mozilla developers will present the tools and technologies created to extend and support the Web platform, including the Web APIs to access the functionalities of the devices such as the accelerometer. It will also show how to use the Firefox OS simulator to view and test mobile web applications on desktops.

The Firefox OS App Days are the occasion for you to start creating applications for the Firefox Marketplace, and represent a great opportunity to contribute new applications and optimize existing HTML5 applications for Firefox OS, as well as show the projects to your colleagues.

Registration

The Firefox OS App Days will begin on January 19 and continue until February 2, although most events will take place on January 26.

In Spanish-speaking countries Mozilla will organize four events, to be held in Bogota, in Colombia (90 participants), Madrid y Barcelona in Spain and Buenos Aires in Argentina (100 participants).

The capacities of these vary, but are generally limited to 100 guests. Pre-registration is mandatory.

How to prepare

Bring your development machine (Linux, Mac or Windows) and an idea about the application you would like to develop for the Firefox Marketplace. If you have an Android device you can take it too (mainly if your device is compatible with Firefox for Android).

If you want to start your development before the event, you can look at the following material and bring an HTML5 application that you have started and want to continue, so you will be able to get ideas and get other developers to help you.
