The release of the new version of the Linux distribution “KaOS 2022.04” was announceda distribution Linux standalone, focused exclusively on the KDE project, something similar to what KDE Neon (Ubuntu-based distribution) would be. Though KaOS is a distribution built from scratch along with its repositories.
As its own distro, it uses a KDE Plasma desktop environment. For better performance, the Qt library is used, being incompatible with others of its kind.

In this new version of the distribution that is presented, the core of the system has been updated to linux Kernel version 5.17.5, Besides that Systemd version 250.4 is included, the graphics stack has been moved to Mesa 22.0.2, while the desktop components have been updated to KDE Plasma 5.24.4, KDE Frameworks 5.93.0, KDE Gear 22.04 and Qt 5.15.3 with patches from the KDE project. The package also includes a package with Qt 6.3.0.
Some nice new features and improvements are introduced. Konsole's brand new feature is Quick Commands, in which you open a quick command panel from Plugins > Show Quick Commands, whereby you can create short scripts that you use frequently.
Konsole's SSH plugin has been improved further and you can assign different visual profiles. For Kdenlive, two new options stand out: you can create custom profiles so that your rendered movie adapts perfectly to your needs, and you can also render by zones, taking as a reference the guides that you configure in the timeline.
Okular now alerts immediately when a document is to be signed, but no digital certificates are available, with Skanpage, you can now share scanned documents (including multi-page PDFs) using KDE's general sharing system, which allows you to send documents to instant messaging applications, online cloud services, social services, and via Bluetooth to other devices.
In addition, we can also find in this new version of KaOS 2022.04 the updated package versions from Glib2 2.72.1, Boost 1.78.0, DBus 1.14.0, Vulkan 1.3.212, Util-linux 2.38, Coreutils 9.1 and Libus 1.0 .26 packages. The build includes a new LTS branch of proprietary NVIDIA 470.xx drivers.
To organize a connection to a wireless network, instead of wpa_supplicant, the IWD background process developed by Intel is used, and the Skanpage document scanning application is included.
Another novelty of this new version, log view mode has been added to the Calamares installer, which allows you to activate the display of a log with information about the progress of the installation instead of an informative slide show.
