KDE Adopts GitLab to Encourage Free Software Development

Days ago, GitLab, Git's DevOps and software development platform, announced that KDE, the well-known technology community that creates open source software for Linux, will adopt it to be used by its developers in order to improve the accessibility of the infrastructure and improve contributions.

With the adoption of GitLab, the KDE community, one of the largest in the open software space with more than 2,600 contributors, will have access to a greater range of code and development features with the platform at their disposal.

"We are excited that the KDE community has chosen to adopt GitLab to offer its developers additional tools and features typical of high-end applications. KDE has a very strong emphasis on finding novel solutions to old and new problems in an atmosphere open to experimentation.”Says David Planella, Relationship Director at GitLab.

The community will also be able to integrate the GitLab for DevOps application into their workflow, from planning to publishing. Using GitLab, contributors will have access to Concurrent DevOps, to manage the development phases. GitLab also provides tools to speed up software development cycles.
