KDE Applications 19.04 has been officially released, here's what's new

The KDE Project released today the final version of KDE Applications 19.04, the software suite for the KDE Plasma graphical environment and Linux distributions.

More than three months of development later, KDE Applications 19.04 is here to bring a host of new features, improvements, and optimizations to your favorite KDE applications.

It comes with various enhancements for Dolphin file manager, Kdenlive video editor, Kate text editor, KMail mail client, Okular document viewer, Gwenview image editor, and Spectacle screenshot utility.

Here's what's new in KDE Applications 19.04

Among the improvements of KDE Applications 19.04 we can highlight the support for thumbnails of Microsoft Office files, Blender files, .epub and .fb2 eBooks files, and PCX files in the Dolphin file manager, along with an improved intelligent positioning of tabs and a more practical tagging system, better support for the Samba protocol for file sharing with Windows systems, and various fixes for memory filtering problems for better performance.

The Okular document viewer now allows users to view and verify the digital signatures of PDF files, as well as edit LaTeX documents in TexStudio, supports touch navigation, and now correctly displays links in Markdown documents.

The KMail mail client now comes with improved grammar, automatic phone number detection, an improved Markdown extension, improved performance and stability.

The KOrganizer calendar app improves recurring event syncing with Google Calendar, support for displaying event reminder on all desktops, and more modern event views.

The Spectacle screenshot utility now allows users to choose the level of compression on their images, comes with a new rectangular option, and offers better support for Wayland.

The Konsole console emulator, the Kdenlive video editor and the Gwenview image viewer also received quite a few changes that you can check out in the ad more details.

Kde Applications 19.04 will be available very soon in the stable repository of your favorite distribution, but if you want you can download the individual packages on the same ad page.

This version will have three maintenance updates until July 11, 2019, when its latest update arrives marking the end of the life cycle.
