LibreOffice 6.3.1 and 6.2.7: two updates focused on improving security

LibreOffice 6.3.1 and 6.2.7

The Document Foundation has announced and released two new versions of its LibreOffice office suite. They correspond to branch 6.2 and 6.3. Although they are maintenance improvements, they are vitally important updates if you want to maintain good security on your system, since they focus on security and correct a large number of vulnerabilities present in these two branches. I am referring to LibreOffice 6.3.1 and LibreOffice 6.2.7, that is, the first minor update for 6.3 and the seventh for 6.2.

In LibreOffice 6.3.1 we have fixed a total of 82 bugs which affected the Writer word processing programs, the Calc spreadsheet, the Impress presentation program, and the Draw and Math drawing and math programs respectively. In addition, a new layer of protection has been introduced so that when you try to run a script or a macro embedded in a document, it will warn you of the danger that this can pose if it is not a document that you have created yourself.

The changes implemented in version 6.2.7 they also affect fixes for Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, and Math, filter enhancements, and other enhancements. In the Linux version, it has also been improved for KDE 5 and Qt 5, solving some errors. They also made changes to the API. That is, in short, some measures very similar or the same in some cases to those taken in version 6.3.1.

Both versions are available for download in multiplatform: Linux, macOS and Windows. You already know that The Document Foundation always releases a somewhat more unstable version with the newest, which in this case would be 6.3.1, while it maintains a more stable version but without the new features, which would be 6.2.7. It is precisely this 6.2.x that is recommended for business environments where more reliability is of interest. You can choose the one you want according to your needs ...
