Continuing with the contributions to improve the appearance of our Linux distributions, we bring you a fairly new icon theme, which has a nice professional finish and can be matched with various themes and desktop environments.

This simple but beautiful icon theme that goes by name Lilac HD icon theme, has the great feature that its icons are presented in 5 pleasant shades, which gives us the flexibility to combine the same icon pack for various visual styles. Lilac-HD-Icon-theme-icon theme

What is Lila HD icon theme?

Lilac HD icon theme is a free icons theme for linux, designed by Cristian Pozzessere and that has obtained some improvements thanks to the collaboration of Valerio Pizza. 

This beautiful theme is distributed in 5 different shades, with icons of the most used distros and apps, adding icons of services, categories, system actions, mymetypes in others, all maintaining a harmony and a very clean design line.

In this video made by its creator we can appreciate in detail each of the characteristics of this excellent icon pack, which will leave more than one with their mouths open.

How to install Lila HD icon theme

To install Lila HD icon theme in any distro we must follow the following steps, open a terminal and run the necessary commands for each task, they must be executed as root or sudo.

  • Remove old versions of Lila HD icon theme:
rm -rf / usr / share / icons / Lila_HD rm -rf / usr / share / icons / Lila_HD_Blue rm -rf / usr / share / icons / Lila_HD_Dark rm -rf / usr / share / icons / Lila_HD_Green rm -rf / usr / share / icons / Lila_HD_Kaki
  • Clone the official icon theme repository:

git clone https://github.com/ilnanny/Lila-HD-icon-theme.git

  • Copy the Lila HD icon theme folders to your distro's icon directory:
cp -r Lila-HD-icon-theme / Lila_HD / usr / share / icons / cp -r Lila-HD-icon-theme / Lila_HD_Blue / usr / share / icons / cp -r Lila-HD-icon-theme / Lila_HD_Dark / usr / share / icons / cp -r Lila-HD-icon-theme / Lila_HD_Green / usr / share / icons / cp -r Lila-HD-icon-theme / Lila_HD_Kaki / usr / share / icons /
  • Refresh the icon cache:
gtk-update-icon-cache / usr / share / icons / Lila_HD gtk-update-icon-cache / usr / share / icons / Lila_HD_Kaki gtk-update-icon-cache / usr / share / icons / Lila_HD_Blue gtk-update-icon -cache / usr / share / icons / Lila_HD_Dark gtk-update-icon-cache / usr / share / icons / Lila_HD_Green
  • Delete the folder of the Lila HD icon theme that we had downloaded.

rm -rf Lila-HD-icon-theme

  • Activate the icons from the icon management option of your distro.
  • Enjoy!

Hopefully you enjoy this nice pack of icons that have been tested in Ubuntu and Antergos with Gnome, XFCE, Cinnamon, Mate and Plasma but that should work on any Linux distro.

    They are quite good and also go a bit out of the last trend in that they are all almost the same Material Design style.
