Over the weekend, Ben Hutchings, a Linux kernel maintainer, announced the release of what appears to be the Latest maintenance update for Linux 3.2 series.

With more than 151 modified files, 1139 insertions and 583 deletionsLinux kernel 3.2.102 has been released at the beginning of this month as the latest maintenance update of the 3.2 series, which means users of this series should update as soon as possible.

"I am announcing the release of Linux kernel 3.2.102, version that all users of the 3.2 series should have, which is probably the last stable version of this series. Users should plan an update to kernel 4.14, 4.9 or 4.4 soon. " Mention Ben Hutchings in the ad.

There are many improvements that come with Linux kernel 3.2.102, which can be seen in detail in the update file uploaded to the official git of this series.

Upgrading Linux kernel 3.2 to another version is highly recommended

Right now, Linux kernel 3.2 users who want to upgrade (which is highly recommended by Hutchings himself) can choose from four LTS (extended support) series available at kernel.org such as Linux 4.14, 4.9, 4.4 and 3.16, so if you are still using Linux 3.2 on your distribution consider upgrading to one of these versions.

Any of these series offers more advanced features than the now outdated Linux kernel 3.2, so it is recommended that you upgrade now. If for some reason you cannot install a more advanced series it is recommended that you at least update to the latest Linux kernel version 3.2.102.

Although there is no official announcement as of yet, Linux kernel 4.1 series is likely to come to an end too With the release of version 4.1.52 released at the end of May, if so, users of this series will need to upgrade to a recent extended support version.
