Not long ago we talked about the changes that come with Cinnamon 1.8, and today Clem announced which is available for download Linux Mint 15 "Olivia", which includes some interesting news, and some problems too, something logical when it comes to an RC.
What's new Old man?
Well, apart from the improvements of Cinnamon 1.8now Linux Mint 15 includes a new tool called mintsources o Software Sources, which allows us to manage our repositories easily:
Perhaps one of the most notable features of this tool is that it allows us to know which Repository is closer to us or may be faster for us:
But the thing does not end here. Another tool called mintdrivers, which allows us to select the driver that we want to use and install and its version.
Another feature that I find interesting comes from the hand of MDM the Session Manager, which now uses HTML5, but that still presents problems with the options of Shutdown, Restart .. etc.
If you want to know the known issues for this release, you can read here. If you want to know everything new that is coming, here..
When the stable comes out, even if it is I will try it, to remember the old days!
it's great 🙂
What happens is that, taking into account the new Ubuntu policy regarding support ... this distro is left without support in nothing more and nothing less than in January 2014. Are you sure you want to install a distro with such a short life time? Unless, yes, the Mint do the maintenance entirely on their own; but that is not so clear to me ...
I liked that login manager.
I imagine that Mint 13, which is LTS, you can update Cinnamon, Nemo, MDM and install the news (MintSources) through backports or some PPA.
I already have it installed and I must say that except for the problem that was mentioned in the post, everything runs smoothly 😀
Good design. Moreover, if it had the publicity that Ubuntu has, then it would be better.
Linux Mint getting better every time, and ready to use.
Yesterday I installed it to test it and to this day I have not had any problems: it starts very quickly, runs smoothly and the applets can now be installed, uninstalled and activated very easily from the same desktop without having to enter, using some browser, to the official page.
Nemo has received its pampering and is much more functional, even ergonomically, than Nautilus.
I leave you some screenshots:

It looks great, what is the name of the icon pack you use? And could you also comment which are the applications that you have on the top right?
Hey.
