The developers of Linux Mint announced today that the new version of their operating system is here. Linux Mint 19 Tara is available in three different "flavors": Cinnamon, MATE, and XFCE.
Based on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Bionic Beaver, Linux Mint 19 Tara reaches the public with support for 32-bit and 64-bit architecture, comes with three different environments, Cinnamon 3.8, MATE 1.20 and XFCE 4.12 and will be supported for the next five years, until April of 2023.
“ Linux Mint 19 is an LTS (Long Term Support) release that will receive updates until 2023. It comes with updated software and brings many improvements and new features to make your desktop even more user-friendly than previous versions. This new version of Linux Mint contains a large number of updates ,” Clement Lefebvre stated in the official announcement.

Among the most important features of Linux Mint 19 we can mention the inclusion of a new backup tool called Timeshift, which supports formatting USB devices in exFAT format, improved support for multi-monitor setups and HiDPI , an updated software manager, an update manager, and a new default theme and icons.
Linux Mint 19 also comes with a completely new welcome screen that will help new users set up the installation very easily , GNOME Calendar is now the default calendar application, the recently released Firefox 61 is also available, GNOME Logs is the default log viewer, and support for Microsoft fonts has been added.
On the other hand, the ntpdate and ntp packages have been removed, as well as the Pidgin messaging application. Several new wallpapers have been added to Linux Mint, and it uses Linux Kernel 4.15.
