Installation log: Debian GNU / kFreeBSD

good,

Yesterday I managed to download the iso of Debian GNU / kFreeBSD Testing in his version of netinstall and today I started doing my tests on a virtual machine.

The installer that contains this iso is the same one that gives us Debian in text mode. I assigned him 128Mb to the virtual machine, to gradually upload it. He Kernel to install will be the 8.1-1-686 de FreeBSD.

Starting the installation, everything happens in the same way except for the partitioning part. Here I was presented with the first dilemma. Normally in GNU / Linux we use Ext3 o Ext4, But Kernel de FreeBSD it only gives me Ext2. By default the partition is made with UFS (Unix File System).

For now I will run the tests on VirtualBox using this system (UFS) to see how it behaves, and at the same time, I will try to collect as much information as possible about its advantages and disadvantages. In fact, if I decide to switch to this version of DebianI'd have to make a full save of me / Home.

Otherwise everything normal. The version NetInstall gives us the possibility of installing a Base System or with a SSH server. Later install Grub and reboot.

And that's when the second problem appears to me. He sources.list is configured in the same way as in the version GNU / Linux, but in the local repositories that I have from Debian, I don't have the packages for kfreebsd-i386, so I have to download them from the internet and for the day, my ISP he won't let me.

So for now I'm standing helplessly. I hope these impediments do not diminish my interest in trying Debian GNU / kFreeBSD.

Damn, that kernel is from PM.

Do the commands change to Pkg? I say because the same includes the FreeBSD ports tree

This new option sounds interesting, but for the moment not very practical, we'll see what happens.

Why impractical? It is just getting used to the kernel

For the observations made by @elav about it. I think that if these situations-difficulties arose for him, it is quite possible that they will arise for many more users.

I repeat, it sounds very interesting, but I'll wait to see how @elav does with this new experience.

friend a video tutorial would be very helpful for newbies like me to see when these problems arise

The problem is that I don't have the resources to post a video tutorial. However, soon I will show the installation step by step while I try the rest.

What if you send me and I upload it somewhere and I send you the link? It's a bit of a bummer but I can't think of anything else

If I could send it to you, it would mean that I have a bandwidth that would allow me to upload it to the mail, let's say, and it is not like that. That is the main barrier I have, and well, access to sites like YouTube.

The problem is that to the site that you upload it, surely we will not have access either 🙁

But readers, yes, you know how to install it

For now I am detained on account of the repositories. I have to wait to download an iso with the complete environment 🙁
