LXD 3.15: the new version is out

LXD logo

LXD 3.15 has already been released, a new version for this software that implements a Linux-based container technology that is most useful for those who make use of virtualization, especially useful for implementing VPS (Virtual Private Server). You should not confuse this project with LXC, despite the similarity of the name and the fact that it is also a container technology, it is not the same. In the case of LXD, it is built on top of LXC, but it is not a fork or derivative of LXC.

LXD offers a new experience for LXC, as an alternative to administration tools. It was created by Canonical, and now you can try all the news of this new release. A lot of new features have been included in it, as well as a lot of modification work for the internals of LXD. An intense work of the developers to satisfy the needs of the administrators and users who use it ...

One of the great news in LXD 3.15 has been the change to dqlite 1.0. After a year you already have a new version of your own sqlite database. It brings new improvements for users, reduces external dependencies, improves CPU and memory use, some bugs have been corrected, etc. Besides that, the code referring to the DHCP handler has been improved, among other novelties on the network side.

Work has also been done to improve other internals of LXD 3.15, even now you will have a improved framework for system call intersection or syscalls, especially for kernels 5.0 or higher. You also have at your disposal more reliable UNIX socket proxying, new functionalities such as filters for VLAN and MAC in SR-IOV, new options for storage, and a long list of new features.
