Microsoft wants to release Edge Chromium on Linux and needs your help

Microsoft Edge for Linux it has just taken a big step towards becoming a reality.

Sean Larkin, who works on Edge development at Microsoft, mentions that his team is working on the requirements to bring Edge to Linux, but he needs a little help doing that.

For this end, a survey has been launched to ask all Linux users what they need from a browser.

Of course, there are no promises that Edge for Linux is coming. The Edge team is basically asking what the developers want, but without promising anything.

If the idea of having Edge on Ubuntu or another Linux distribution surprises you, it shouldn't. to get started the browser is based on Chromium and Chromium has cross-platform support. Vivaldi, Opera and Google Chrome use it.

Also, the company has recently released Visual Studio Code and Powershell for Linux, so Edge is likely to arrive soon.

Of course, It is one thing for Microsoft to launch Edge for Linux and another for users to decide to use it. It is unlikely that any distribution will choose to bring Edge by default, moreover, Linux is by default an open ecosystem and users have many more choices and could decide not to download or install the browser.

That said, if you are interested in Edge for Linux you can answer the survey using this link.
