Since yesterday it is available for download Network Manager 1.4.4, it is a maintenance update and bug fix, which should be installed by everyone as soon as possible.

The announcement was made by Lubomir rintel one of the tool's developers, you can read the change history here..

What is NetworkManager?

NetworkManager is a program that provides systems with automatic detection and configuration to connect to the network. NetworkManager features are useful for both wired and wireless networks.

For wireless networks, the tool prioritizes known networks and has the ability to switch to the most reliable network, as well as allowing applications to switch between online and offline modes.

One of the most important features of the application is that it gives preference to cable connections over wireless, it has support for modem connections and for certain types of VPN. NetworkManager was originally developed by Red Hat and is now supported by the project GNOME. Network Manager 1.4.4

What danger does that have! Use the official packages from your distro, security updates are released fast. This post is totally contrary to good practice. Never download packages from untrusted sources. Tips like "run this command" without explaining what they do are also discouraged. This information is highly misleading if not malicious.

The source is that of the manufacturer of the tool, that at the beginning of the thread the link is left ... In the same way in some cases (especially in abandoned distros) the updates do not arrive as fast as you want ... There is no bad intention. However, I have left a warning for the record.

I have been able to update myself but it has cost me. It's not just running that command in terminal and updating, but after asking for a bunch of dev packages that it took me a long time to install. We will see if it solves some of the problems I have with my WiFi card that brings me to my head and makes me have to restart the network card every two minutes.

I have the same problem, the internet is disconnected after a while although the icon indicates that I have a Wi-Fi connection, if I restart the program it works again. If you have found a solution, it would help me. Thank you.

PS: it happens to me in all distros.

Well, I'm writing again, I do not recommend anyone with low knowledge to install it. The reason is that at least in Ubuntu 16.04 with the latest Kernel it left me without Network Manager after restarting and then there was no way to return to the previous one or reinstalling it from LiveCD. I suppose that an advanced user could have solved it but I had to restart. I'll wait for it to officially arrive in Ubuntu. Salu2.
