New Photo enhancements

Here we are going to talk about a project that is not very well known, the Photo application, it is a simple image viewer in Qt, for those who do not need much paraphernalia when viewing images.

The author of this application is giggle and we can download it from Qt Apps.

The improvements added to the current version, Photo 0.7 are as follows:

  • Ability to adjust mouse actions for anything
  • Thumbnails can be moved to the top
  • Control, Alt and Shift can be used for shortcuts
  • Ability to rotate images left and right
  • Zoom to real size
  • Horizontal and vertical scrolling

On the project page there is a changelog in which he explains more features

It is very good, I tried it when I was using razor-qt. Now it supports gif, which was what it lacked. I think I could have a basic desktop in qt, but some elementary applications like a pdf reader and a frontend for sane are still missing.

Okular does not meet your needs as a PDF reader? :OR

What I miss in KDE is a good Web Browser (Rekonq crashes because of Flash and although I agree with its elimination, it is still present in many websites). And I think Calligra (Koffice 2, right?) Still has room to improve. I'd actually rather see LibreOffice and Gimp written in Qt for example, but hey, at this point in history no longer XD

And for asking that xD not be left, I would prefer that KDE take its development more calmly, I say this because of annoying Bugs that are the cause of the frantic development that the desktop environment takes.

      Ex:

-> The startup or shutdown sound no longer sounds (even if it is marked in System Notifications and, OBVIOUSLY, the speakers on xD).

-> KmenuEdit is not installed by default in KDE 4.8, BIG error, nor does it warn you: / you have to install it manually.

-> Personally, there are graphic effects that have stopped working because of the face (it also happens to my friend).

      Regards!

No no, what happens is that okular is a kde application, I was referring to qt without kde dependencies. Okular is more than fine.

And yes, the rekonq browser no longer crashes so much, but it is incomplete, and the chakra ones had done something about libreoffice and qt, but I don't know where it is.
I will have patience with calligra which is still in beta, and evolves very quickly.

In Chakra, when I used it, they had a LibreOffice without GTK dependencies, which without being Qt, something is something. I don't know if that version will be on Arch's AUR ...

But for me, who has been using KDE exclusively for a long time, the essential thing is a browser that offers me the same as Firefox. That or the batteries are put with Firefox Qt.

As for Photo, I am going to test this application. Currently, I use qiviewer as an image viewer, but you have to be open to change.

          A greeting.

I fully agree with what you say at each point, I think that KDE is great in many ways only that it must maintain a certain coherence and a clear objective
The solution to your sound problem in KDE 4.8 ... go to system preferences> application notification and in the event source box you choose the KDE workspace and in the box shown in this screenshot:
        http://i.imgur.com/Detm3.png
you indicate the route to the event house sounds in that way ... that is, you mark the complete route by putting /// usr / share / sounds / in front of every sound

But the most important feature of this version you don't mention…. It is translated into Spanish… .. by me !!!!

Nothing like the "and you?" from about he encouraged me to collaborate and that's it, Lukas answered me right away and the rest was a matter of translating weird words from the jargon of images, exif and stuff.

I would like to give some ideas to the people of the Qt Linguist, when you have been typing the same little word 7 times you start to get tired, some completeness would not hurt.
