New preferences manager for Xfce

There is little left for the release of the version 4.10 by Xfce and in the list of developers, ideas continue to move, that although they do not seem so new, they will provide a better experience in the use of this Desktop Environment..

The image that starts this post is the new version of the Preferences Manager de Xfce, which reminds us (although in a simpler way) the one that incorporates KDE y Gnome 3, where the options are cataloged in sections. Nothing relevant to highlight, however, the new icons for some of the options that can be seen on the screen catch my attention:

  • About Myself(About me): It's something that Xfce it does not have by default, so it would be interesting to know if it is a new functionality or a third-party application.
  • Authentication(ID): Will it be something similar to Master Key de Gnome or KDEWallet de KDE? Or something related to user access?
  • Firewall: Will it be an interface for iptables or some other application like GUFW?

I do not know if those icons were really placed at Random to make the capture or are new options that we will have in Xfce, but the doubt is killing me 😀 What do you think?

I have been using xfce 3 for about 4.8 months and I see it very well and fully, I always use gnome but seeing the path it is taking I decided to try xfce and for now it has not disappointed me. Good for this desktop environment.

I would like it to have a KDE-style search engine.

XFCE is gradually becoming more and more a more serious alternative. I look forward to this new release =)

What I fear and worry about is that for the sake of being more "serious" and being more User-Friendly, they lose performance, performance.

I am counting the days until they release the new version. Especially since there is a lot of "buzz" about what new things it will bring and there are many that are great ... if they are finally carried out.

In any case, any new improvements are welcome. I've been using XFCE for a long time and I'm delighted to have migrated. 😉
