Now Desdelinux It shows you the User Agent, but in a different way

We have taken on the task of modifying the way in which Desdelinux shows you the User Agent of the browser, and now it's in a less intrusive way perhaps.

Previously, the logo that each distribution stole a bit of prominence from the rest of the elements in the header of the site. With this new design it continues to do so, but it seems to us in a more beautiful way. However we are open to suggestions, and if you want to propose a design following the structure of the site, we will be delighted to receive it.

Among the novelties we can say that we incorporate the logo of Tuquito, Sabayon and we eliminate the one of iOS leaving only the logo of Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), for this system and MacOS.

What do you think?

What browser are you using? What distribution?

      1.    KZKG ^ Gaara <"Linux said

I bet you use Chrome as a browser… HAHA if the same plugin tells you elav LOL !!!

        1.    elav <° Linux said

Not necessarily, it can be Chromium (although it's basically the same) ...

          1.    Phytoschido said

Well, confirmed about xfraniux, it doesn't work for me in Google Chrome either, is it because I use the Dev channel —it's in version 17, I think—? ...

Greetings, the distros banners are very nice.

You must configure the Firefox UserAgent to show the distro you use, here is a tutorial that will explain how to do this step by step: https://blog.desdelinux.net/tips-como-cambiar-el-user-agent-de-firefox/

Greetings and welcome to our site 😀

Because you don't have the User Agent properly configured. Look at your comment, under your nickname that the Firefox logo appears but not the distribution you are using.

    3.    KZKG ^ Gaara <"Linux said

Hello and welcome to the site 😀
For the site to recognize which distro you use, you must tell the browser (Chrome in your case it seems) to show the distro, to do that the UserAgent of the browser is modified, here are two tutorials that will explain how to change the UserAgent in Chrome or Chromium:
      https://blog.desdelinux.net/tips-como-cambiar-el-user-agent-de-chromium/
      https://blog.desdelinux.net/otra-forma-de-cambiar-el-user-agent-de-chromium/

Oh and what distro do you use?

Greetings and welcome to the site 😉

It's possible. You would have to do a little adjustment in the theme's CSS. We would appreciate a screenshot 😀

And come on, stop complaining ... I (with a little help from Alain) made the icon change depending on the distro, as well as added the link and such ... ¬ ¬ stop pulling rags ...

Posting from Pardus Linux 2011.2 Cervus Elaphus + Google Chrome

  6.   Yoyo said

Well, in my previous comment Chrome has come out but not Pardus, don't you have Pardus included in the user agent? O___0

Let's see now from Pardus and Fireofx, testing… ..

  7.   Yoyo said

Well, neither, the Parduseros are the great forgotten 🙁

    1.    KZKG ^ Gaara <"Linux said

HAHAHA nope they are not forgotten ... check out the banner for Pardus here:
      https://blog.desdelinux.net/wp-content/themes/arras/images/dlinx/distro_icon/pardus.png

What happens is the following ... we (<° Linux) did NOT make the plugin that puts the browser and distro in the comments of the users, what we did is that a banner or another appears depending on the user's distro.
In other words, the Pardus banner will be shown to you, but it will not appear in the comments ...

At least for the moment, because once we finalize details with the banner (making it look 100% good regardless of the resolution of each reader) then I will modify the plugin this one of the comments, and we will add support to many other distros, I have reviewed and it is not difficult to modify far from it (and I don't know anything about programming haha).

In summary ... Parduseros have NOT been excluded HAHA

  8.   Yoyo said

Thanks for the info, compa 😉

And ... why do you "have" to change distro?

      1.    Josh said

I am going on vacation and I need a distribution that does not require as many updates as this one I am installing (LMDE), because I do not like spending so much time in the internet cafe, even so I will try to follow your articles.

    2.    elav <° Linux said

Jo! And what do you have to change? Can you know the reason?

      1.    Josh said

Of course I am, I'm going on vacation and Sabayon requires updates every week, I don't have internet and I don't like being in the internet cafe updating my system. But I will be following you.
        regards

        1.    KZKG ^ Gaara <"Linux said

One doubt… if you don't update Sabayon every week, what would happen?

          1.    Josh said

It only happened to me once and I am not aware of the subject, but for an example it is like this: Libreoffice 3.4.4 and the next one is Libreoffice 3.4.4-r1 and so on with all the updates and having not updated, pass me a package and everything stopped working, it only served pidgin.

            1.    KZKG ^ Gaara <"Linux said

I don't know why it happened ... but the system may not be updated for a long time, then it updates and that's fine, I've done it myself with Arch and Ubuntu.

Too bad I'm not going to be able to enjoy seeing the Tuquito logo because here at work they use W $% & ## $.
On top hahahahaha (As constructive criticism) the aspect if you use W &% $ # $% is terrible 😀 it is a good initiative to encourage us to use free soft 😀 hahahahaha

    1.    Yoyo said

They also appear in red to me, it is very hesitant 🙂

      1.    elav <° Linux said

The Red thing should initially be for the creator of the post, but I have to review the code 😀

    2.    KZKG ^ Gaara <"Linux said

The responses in red are that when someone is the author of an article, what that someone comments on their article will appear in red, but still elav has to fix some bugs haha.

Let's see from Chrome and Mac OS X Snow Leopard

    Try try …….

  16.   jhals said

I also liked how it looks 😀
I was editing your css and apparently to correct that problem is not to repeat the image and put the top and right, that is: "no-repeat top right" after putting the image.

So that it does not move, I got it by putting: background-size: 100%

With that it is very good unless there is someone who still uses internet explorer 8 or less than 8 xD

ps: I also see the answers in red, but very good eh xD

    1.    KZKG ^ Gaara <"Linux said

Thanks for the tip, elav will do some tests and hopefully it is solved hehe.
And uff ... of course you have to work with% instead of px ¬¬ ... look at what I told you ...

    2.    elav <° Linux said

Hahaha thanks, I was thinking of doing the same thing as I don't have a WideScreen monitor to see the changes 🙁

  17.   jhals said

If you want, I can help you as a tester to test that, while I can test that while I'm working, I don't have a single problem.

I am struck that the portal does not detect my combination of Linux Mint Debian Edition with Firefox 8.0 (I get three question marks)

However, sites like this at least they detect that I use Linux and Firefox 8, and in the specific case of LMDE, these strings make it even clearer, maybe they can use them.

      Hugo man welcome:
Right now we are in the middle of chaos. All for adding secondary DNS on GoDaddy. Thank you very much for the tip. When we get out of all this, I give it a try and add it to the article ..

    2.    jhals said

Hi Hugo, I saw that website and it works with javascript, if you disable javascript in your browser, you will not see your browser's detection. That's the advantage and disadvantage of using javascript on the client side.

Here the guys want to implement the same thing, but using PHP on the server side, only now they are going through various problems, but surely at any time they fix everything 😉

      regards

      1.    Hugo said

Yes, I may have involuntarily had something to do with the DNS problem with a recommendation that I made to them once, since I told them that it should not give problems (a modification similar to the one they made did not give them to me) . Anyway, it's probably a NoDaddy thing to do. 😉

Terrific. It does not appear to me, instead when I enter this blog there is the question mark as a drawing and as a text «???». I use the SalixOS distro, based on slackware, in theory it should recognize it as slack, but capable that requires some configuration or tip. Thanks anyway for the reply.

Very good aesthetic detail, I love it. A query, can the Crunchbang (#!) Distro be added? It would be good to be able to see the symbol, at this moment Debian appears (on which it is based). I do not know if there will be many users of it to justify the work involved 🙂 but thanks anyway. Greetings from Buenos Aires!!
