Old Linux virus panics Mac OS X

I read since TheInfoBoom.com that an old Linux Trojan has been ported to Mac OS X. The nickname or name of this is «Tsunami«, And began to circulate from the last week of October.

This is an old virus designed for Linux, yes ... old, since it is from 2002, however it stands out that the current one is extremely similar to the old one.

which enables? ...

The usual. It is known that Mac users are generally wealthier than others, that is, they have more money, they handle larger bank accounts, etc. So this Trojan gives hackers the possibility to access the computer, and once they gain access they can get data from bank accounts, etc., everything is in the imagination of the hackers hack

Malware Finders ESET Security they believe that hackers are still testing this virus, which leaves between saying that more powerful or better versions of it (including other older Linux viruses) can seriously affect Mac systems in the future, perhaps not too distant future.

I still do not know the technical details about this Trojan, that is, what vulnerability / bug in the system it exploits, when or with which patch this virus was neutralized on GNU / Linux systems, etc. As soon as I get to know more details I will leave them here 🙂

regards

This news came out a couple of weeks ago on infobae. A friend read it that way quickly and it came to me that Linux, being free, anyone modifies the system and opens vulnerabilities and blah blah blah. I gave him a sermon making him understand that not everything is windows, and I made him read the news well, a 2002 virus, it doesn't even tickle me now =)

Be careful with the title because it is not the same virus as Trojan.

I used iAntivirus on the Mac just in case and I see that it didn't hurt

I didn't even realize when I wrote it hehe ...
Yes, a Trojan is a software that is used to gain access to a computer / server, and once with access to do any kind of thing, while a virus is something different, malicious code that is used to damage (mainly) a computer, your system, information, etc. 😀
