KRecipes is an application that, as I say in the title, helps us manage our cooking recipes.
I remember when my girlfriend played The Sims (Magia Potagia) she had to write down in a notebook the combinations of ingredients and the results that came out of them, something similar you have to do in some witch games when you throw toads and other ingredients into a cauldron, just like in real life when we are at home cooking, we need to memorize the combinations of ingredients, cooking times and other details of each food, with KRecipes life is made easier.
KRecipes
When we start it for the first time it will open the configuration wizard, it will ask us if we want the information to be stored in a sqlite database or in some mysql. In addition, it will offer us the option to download the nutritional components of more than 400 elements.
Once the wizard is finished, the application will open:
As you can see we have several options:
- New recipe
- Search / Edit recipes
- List the purchase
- Diet assistant
- Search by ingredients
- Data…
If we click on Data… more options will appear:
As you can see, even many more options such as managing ingredients, units of measure, etc.
If we click on New Recipe, a form opens in the right panel (the largest area) where we must put information about the recipe:
By the way, we can export our recipes and other information to various formats (txt, etc), so others can check our improvements. We can also import something that someone else (or ourselves) has previously exported.
KRecipes Installation
The usual, look in your repository for the package in question, in this it would be krecipes and install it.
On Debian, Ubuntu or derivatives:
sudo apt-get install krecipes
On ArchLinux or other distros that use pacman:
sudo pacman -S krecipes

I'm increasingly surprised by the sheer amount of software (and such varied software) available in our own repositories. I never imagined there could be software for a doctor's clinic ( Clinica ), and now this for cooking recipes... I mean, spending hours checking the repository isn't time wasted! 😉
