Importing videos in Peerturbe

Just made known the launch of the new version of the platform decentralized to organize video hosting and streaming Peer Tube 4.3 and in this new version some quite interesting changes have been made such as the improvements made to the user interface, it also highlights the support to import videos from other platforms to PeerTube, among other things.

For those who are still unaware of PeerTube, I can tell you that this is a platform that is based on the BitTorrent WebTorrent client, which runs in a browser and uses WebRTC technology to organize a direct P2P communication channel between browsers, and the ActivityPub protocol, which allows you to combine disparate video servers into a common federated network in which visitors participate in content delivery and have the ability to subscribe to channels and receive notifications of new videos. The web interface provided by the project is built using the Angular framework.

The PeerTube federated network is formed as a community of small interconnected video hosting servers, each of which has its own administrator and can adopt its own rules.

Main new features of PeerTube 4.3

In this new version of PeerTube 4.3 that is presented, it is highlighted thatThe ability to automatically import videos from other video platforms has been implemented. For example, a user may initially post a video to YouTube and set up automatic transfer to their channel based on PeerTube. It is possible to group videos from different platforms in one PeerTube channel, as well as a limited transfer of videos from specific playlists. Auto-import is enabled in the "My Library" menu via the "My Syncs" button in the "Channels" tab.

Another of the changes that stands out in this new version is that Work has been done on the modernization of the user interface, for the design of the account creation page has been revised, in which the number of stages during the registration process has been increased: display of general information, acceptance of the conditions of use, filling in the form with the user's data, request to create the first channel and information about the successful registration from account.

Also changed the location of top elements on the page login to make informative messages more visible. The search bar has been moved to the top center of the screen. Increased font size and corrected color.

Besides that, options for embedding videos on other sites have been expanded, since for live broadcasts embedded in the player integrated in the pages, in the moments before the start and after the end of the broadcast, explanatory splash screens are shown instead of empty ones. Also automatic start of playback after the start of a scheduled live stream is implemented.

Added new options to customize your PeerTube node, the administrator has the means to start working in batch mode on the federated nodes (Federation), for example, to remove certain subscribers from all controlled nodes at once. Added options to disable transcoding to change the resolution of downloaded videos or live streams, including the ability to disable transcoding of videos with a resolution higher than the maximum allowed in settings. The ability to selectively delete video files has been added to the web interface, which can be useful for freeing up free space (for example, you can delete videos with a resolution higher than the specified one at once).

Finally, it is also noted that optimizations have been made to improve performance and increase the scalability of the platform.
