Phototonic: A lightweight photo and image organizer

I was looking for a photo and image organizer make it independent of the desktop environment, and I found the Phototonics. As I use the MATE Desktop Environment on Debian Jessie, since I am a declared fan of GNOME2, I did not want to install the classic gThumb because the end user interface is that of GNOME3, and I really don't like that environment that much.

Well then, I installed the Phototonics in its version 1.4.0 and I was pleasantly surprised by the benefits that it claims to have - and has - this image viewer and organizer for Linux, which is written in C ++ and Qt 5.3.2. Hence its low consumption of resources, speed and ease of use. photo organizer

I prefer the Eye of Mate, it has rotation functions, etc.

I also have the Eye of MATE installed as a first option and it is the one I use when I browse the folders with Box. But it is undeniable that for an overview, Phototonic is better. My wife loves it. 😉

Phototonic is not just a visualizer, as Eye, Feh, Mirage, Geqie, Qiv or Photoqt or many others can be. It has that and a browser / file manager. And that is what differentiates it from those others so it is not comparable with those.
That's why it's better. At least for me. And it is the same or faster and lighter than those others that only have the viewer but do not have an environment to directly manage the images.
I always compare the image viewers with Acdsee (for windows) and I have not seen any better or faster in linux. In fact, in terms of memory consumption, I have verified that acdsee32 v.2.41 loaded with wine consumes much less than the lightest Linux one. Of course, it is slower when loading the environment.

But how I use linux I have decided on qimgv.
