Pingus: a free and open source Lemmings clone

Penguin 2

For those who haven't heard of Lemmings, I can tell you that it's a video game originally developed for the Commodore Amiga , designed by DMA Design, which had versions for different platforms where it was very well received and gained great popularity.

In this fun game, the characters are based on the popular belief that lemmings commit mass suicide in dangerous situations. The goal is to save a certain number of lemmings in each level . To do this, you have eight different abilities that can be distributed in limited quantities to each lemming in order to reach the end of each stage.

The game is divided into a number of levels. Each level can have one or more exits and one or more entrances, and consists of controlling units (the lemmings) by guiding them through various obstacles (ravines, walls, mountains, etc.) with the goal of reaching a final position.

These units are trained to carry out a series of actions, including building ladders, blocking the way of other lemmings, parachuting, etc.

About Pingus

Pingus is a free clone of the popular Lemmings game . In it, the main characters are penguins instead of lemmings, and they all look very similar to Tux, the Linux mascot.

Pingus is a free and open-source game , licensed under the GNU GPL. It is a cross-platform game, running on a wide variety of operating systems, and currently features 77 playable levels.

In this game, your goal is to guide a horde of penguins through a world full of obstacles and penguin traps for safety.

Although penguins unlike lemmings are quite intelligent, sometimes they do not have the necessary overview and now they trust you to save them.

Unfortunately, the task is not easy, as there are countless obstacles due to the various maps that accompany the game.

In total, there are ten worlds and two test zones, including standard mode, space, medium level, hard level, extra levels, experimental, wild, Egypt, crystal and Christmas.

The game does not try to be an exact clone, but includes some ideas of its own, such as the world map or the secret levels, which may be familiar in the Super Mario World games and other Nintendo games.
