Play Zelda: Mystery of Solarus DX on GNU / Linux

Maybe it's because of nostalgia, or because I was brought up with old-school methods that 2D games still seem great to me, even some for me are more entertaining than many of the advanced games that we can currently find for different video consoles.

And it is that the more advanced, the less they care about the objective for which this type of software was initially created. But hey, my goal is not to debate now what the future of the video game industry will be. I have already told you about a few here in From linuxas the Apricots, yoda-soccer, Blob Wars, some available in the repositories and others not, as is the case with this one that I bring you below.

Many will agree with me that The Legend of Zelda, one of the most popular games of Nintendo, It is a classic. It is one of the games that has had more sagas and today I bring you another of them, created by Solarus Game and available for GNU / Linux, OS X and Windows. Zelda: Mystery of Solarus DX It was launched in December 2011 and has nothing to do with the version of the Japanese company.

The game is available in English and Spanish, and playing it is very easy. The keys are as follows:

  • The Up, Down, Left and Right arrows are for moving the character.
  • The space bar is the action key, with which we can push, pull, pick up, talk, etc.
  • The C key is used to swing the sword. If we hold it down for a few seconds, the character launches a circular attack.
  • The D key is used to pause the game. Using the left / right keys we can move between some options: Inventory, Map, Game Preferences, etc.
  • The X and V keys can be configured for specific game objects.

The history of Zelda: Mystery of Solarus DX It's quite linear. We have to do a series of things to advance little by little, and believe me, the game is quite entertaining. At least I spent the weekend playing it, especially because I got stuck and I don't know how to melt the ice door 
