Playing on GNU / Linux: Alien Arena

En DesdeLinux We have talked on other occasions about shooting games (or shooter as it is called), available for Windows there are many good of excellent quality as well as less graphics, for example if you are looking for something simple to play online it is Coco cannonWell, on Linux we also have first-person shooters with excellent graphics.

Example of it is Open arena, my favorite Shooter game in GNU / Linux but unfortunately, I can't find it in the official repositories of ArchLinux And I'd swear I was before Apparently he has no one to support him.

Open arena it is not there, but instead we have Alien Sand, a multiplatform game that basically amounts to the same but with less accomplished graphics for my taste.

AlienArena

The game itself is not necessary to explain how it works or what it is about, as it is similar to Open arena, Quake and the like. The objective is to eliminate everything that moves and gets ahead, without eliminating us.

AlienSand1

As is logical, we have at our disposal in the field various types of weapons, powers (to call it a certain way) and items that we can collect for our benefit.

The game has an internal browser on the server to find other players online and an IRC client for chatting between players, that is, it can logically be played on the Net or through servers on the Internet.

Installation

To install it on ArchLinux:

$ sudo pacman -S alien-arena

To install it on Debian and derivatives:

$ sudo aptitude install alien-arena

And that's it. Enjoy

    Hello good Morning:

    What need is there to recommend that game, when you have Steam and Team Fortress 2 at your fingertips?

    I say this because that game is quite old and can be a bit boring, while in Team Fortress 2, the graphics are much better, they give you weapons, you have achievements… ..etc

    Are you not a little behind with this recommendation?

      because we are going to give more importance to free games, in addition Alien Arena is also published in Desura for which we receive updates more often through this way, I also understand that work is being done on improving the graphic section
