postmarketOS: Linux distribution focused on mobile devices

postmarketOS and mobile

This is nothing new, there are already several operating systems for mobile devices Linux-based, and even Android forks, which, as you know, also use the Linux kernel. But we are happy to present this distribution that you will surely like, since it has some very interesting qualities that users could surely demand in other existing operating systems and are not satisfied.

The operating system we are talking about is postmarketOS, obviously it is a free and open source system, specially optimized to work on tablets and smartphones as we have said. In addition, it is based on the famous distribution GNU / Linux Alpine Linux, which you probably already know. Surely you already know that it is a very light distro based on musl and BusyBox and with security patches for the kernel such as PaX and grsecurity to reinforce security ...

postmarketOS can use various graphical user interfaces or desktop environments, such as Plasma Mobile (KDE), Hildon, LuneOS UI, MATE, GNOME3, and XFCE. In addition, they intend to give the devices a 10-year life cycle, according to their developers. On the other hand, and like Alpine, they have also focused on improving the distro's protections, especially focused on improving user privacy and security. In fact, the mobile distro has been developed with the privilege system in mind.

Likewise, it is intended to bring that experience and essence of the traditional distros for PCs to these mobile devices, so it looks very good. If you want to know more or get this distro, you can go directly to the official project website… In addition, you can test it in a virtual machine before installing it on your mobile device and thus see if you are interested or not. And if you are thinking about compatibility, you can look at this device list that are currently supported.

This is great. I have saved my HTC Desire for 9 years (bravo) with the intention of finding a linux that works for it. We will test for the umpteenth time if this is the solution !!!

I have a samsung and pro, a motorola pro + and even a PocketPC, this distro can be used for some after a while.
