Talking a little about systems focused on the educational environment is rare here on the blog, as few developers intend to guide a system for educational purposes. Although, there is everything in Linux, honestly distributions of this type are few.
PrimTux is quite usable in state-of-the-art computers, it is intended to recycle old equipment to use in schools or simply for families to renew the main computers at home.

In this sense, since this solution allows to equip with less costs, the PrimTux team is pleased to announce the release of version 4 of PrimTux for Raspberry Pi.
Regarding the versions for PC, the versions of PrimTux for Raspberry Pi are renamed due to a standardization of the interfaces.
About the new version of PrimTux
Recientemente the version of PrimTux for Raspberry Pi, received a new update in which the great novelty is the integration of most of the complementary software which can now be installed because they have been ported to Raspberry Pi directly or because of their free divergences (forks), such as PhotoFlare to replace PhotoFiltre.
They can install any plug-in or just the environment or tools they want. For a more precise choice, you can use the Synaptic Package Installer or the Software Manager.
Complementary software
Simply By updating the distribution packages, additional software becomes accessible to the already installed versions of PrimTux3 RPi.
Installing plugins requires a lot of disk space. If you intend to install all or most of the add-ons, you must use a memory card larger than 16 GB.
- Limitations compared to PC versions:
- calcul @ TICE is not integrated, but the menu entries have been kept because the team, in partnership with the developer, is working on trying to port in ARM.
- The clicmenu software cannot be integrated: it is actually dozens of scattered and independent software, developed for Windows, with inaccessible fonts; however, the team plans to develop equivalents in cross-platform technologies.
- Ardora only works on RPi3B + versions.
As for the PrimTux3 RPi, it is possible to create your own distribution with scripts:
The installe-primtux3-rpi.sh script has been updated to get a Primtux4-Debian9-DG;
The script installe-primtux4-rpi. sh provides a Primtux4-Debian9-CTP.
Image construction can be done on a 16GB memory card.
Since actual sizes are not identical from manufacturer to manufacturer, the partition has been reduced by 100MB so that the image can be copied to all memory cards.
If you want to get back these few MB, or if you use a memory card larger than 16 GB, you should consider expanding the partition size with the included raspi-config utility:
To be able to execute this command in the terminal you must type:
sudo raspi-config
In the text-based interface that appears, go to the line »Advanced options» and click on “Expand file system«.
Download PrimTux3 RPi
You can get this new version of PrimTux3 RPi for both desktop computers, as well as the ARM processors that are used in the Raspberry Pi.

This image of the system can be recorded with the help of Etcher with which you can create a Bootable USB as well as record the system on the SD cards for the Raspberry pi.
