For GNU / Linux we have a wide range of music players, even in earlier days AnaGaby_Clau told us about 6 features that your music player should have, she recommended us quodlibet, so we decided to give it a try and bring you our impressions.
What is Quodlibet?
It is an open source, cross-platform (GNU / Linux, Windows and OSx) music player based on GTK + and written in Python, it makes use of the music tagging library mutagen, which makes it a player with excellent labeling.
Without a doubt, the greatest advantage of quodlibet is that it allows us to organize our music the way we want, we can make playlists in various ways and we can even use regular expressions for this purpose.
Quodlibet main features
quodlibet It is designed to reproduce small and large amounts of songs, it also has compatibility with most of the current formats, in the same way it has the following characteristics to highlight among many.
- Unicode support.
- Advanced Label Editing.
- Allows playback of Podcasts and online radios.

- Support for album art and associated information.
- Excellent service from ReplayGain.
- Random and repeat play option.
- Multimedia key support.
- Allows editing of multiple files at the same time.
- Allows you to download song lyrics.
- It has a simple user interface.
- Possibility of extending its features through python plugins.
How to install Quodlibet?
This music player has installers for any GNU / Linux distribution, we can get the installers here..
For Ubuntu-based distros we can install it as follows:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa: lazka / ppa sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install quodlibet
And Arch based distros, you can install it with pacman:
$pacman -S quodlibet
Already concluding, This is a good music player, which has an enviable capacity when it comes to organizing our songs and has a wide capacity for managing our playlists. The possibility of being able to extend its features with plugins makes it a fairly robust tool when it comes to playing songs.
This player is worth a try and if you do, feel free to leave us your comments about it.
I am interested in installing Linux but as I have read it is not very good to add many ppa, but every time I see an interesting program, they always come up with the ppa. What is true in here?

The one from Ubuntu does not read the audios that I have downloaded, but thanks to Quodlibet I was able to listen to music on my computer again
