QWebkit, why not use Gecko?

I have been talking about this issue for some time and it seems that it has not yet been resolved and it is a shame, it seems that we will have to keep waiting.

How many people, when they tried to use Qupzilla, Recon , Konqueror and Arora (who knows more than put more), they will not have had problems with the reproduction of Flash?

Well yes, the problems persist since I am using Linux, that was at the beginning of this year, Qwebkit se crashes, it crashes again and continues crashing if you enter a website with flash.

Perhaps we should stop installing this component private, but honestly having tried it more than once, I can't remove it from my OS, I need it to watch videos embedded in many webs, to listen to radios that don't let you know what the URL of it is and that you can only listen through the browser, I need it to play a game or even to use Grooveshark from the browser and it's a shame that QWebkit continue with this bug.

What I am going to say, maybe it is something crazy and I do not know if it is feasible, but why not use Gecko in a browser Qt? Perhaps it would increase its stability with this component, waiting for the Qt developers to fix the bug.

For my part, I only wish three things for this coming year:

1- A free browser written in Qt that works completely or at least gives me navigation reliability.

2- The fact that Calligra just released its final version.

3- The fact that ati(AMD) give better support to Gnome Shell and we can also enjoy this DE well.

And you…

What do you wish for Linux, in this new year that is to come?

Totally agree, we need a QT browser that is a real alternative to for example firefox or chrome.

PS in the paragraph "Didn't you have with the Flash playback?"
I think the word "problem" is missing or substitute "there will be"

    regards

The problem is not with Webkit, but with how the QT developers have implemented Webkit to this library.

We would give in the same if Gecko were implemented in the same way to QT ...

Yes, that's why I say that the problem is qwebkit, otherwise I would have said that it is from webkit, since gnome works well in that regard. What is clear is that I suppose a gecko browser could be made, with a qt interface, but without integrating it that way, or something similar.

If you get a petition letter, believe me I'll join and sign it my friend ... That "little detail" is precisely the huge rock in the shoe for web browsers based on this. It is a pity that large projects like Arora and Rekonq are "tainted" by this flaw, since normally the user who does not know about this problem "load" directly against the browser, reducing its image: S.

As for it being an exclusive problem for Qt, I have my reservations, has it ever happened exactly the same with Midori? I have tried to create a browser with PyQt and PyGTK and have always run into the same wall ¬¬.

Well, I hope that the kernel battery problem in laptops will be solved, and that it brings some improvements for Android (in terms of battery life and performance, of course).

I don't know about you, but when I used GNU / Linux on my PC (I uninstalled it due to the graphics and performance problems that I had under the AMD Fusion platform), I had no problem with the QtWebKit browsers (at the time it was Arora) and the plugin Adobe Flash, however, I read about QtGecko out there and the problem was that Mozilla abandoned the use of alternative interfaces to XUL, such as Qt and the project got stuck.

Not all of us like firefox.

Maybe I am a little late, and you have already lost hope xD But today, after the installation of my expected Elementary OS Luna, I have started the development of a QT Navigator, but a Serious Navigator, I will try the Gecko engine first. If anyone is interested in the project, you can follow my progress on my blog: http://sleeppath.blogspot.com/

In addition to a browser, I am also going to work on a file player and viewer, since Elementary OS is very stable, fast, efficient and simple, but ... the factory apps leave much to be desired ...

Do not worry if it takes a long time to reveal advances in the browser, I just started in QT, I am a C ++ programmer, Microsoft's .NET Framework and web languages, but I don't think it will take long to adapt to QT.
