ReactOS 0.4.12 has arrived , the latest release that brings Windows Snapping, new themes, and kernel updates to this open-source operating system. It's binary-compatible with Microsoft Windows, meaning it attempts to mimic the Redmond company's system so its software can be installed without problems (well… with the occasional issue, as with Wine). But without a doubt, it's an interesting alternative to MS Windows, especially for learning how it works.

Among the most notable is Window Snapping, a feature that allows users to resize windows.
You'll also find some keyboard shortcuts, increased robustness, bug fixes , improved font rendering for buttons in various apps, two new themes to change the appearance (called Mizu and Lunar, as you can see in the main image), and support for Intel e1000 NIC network cards. The ReactOS kernel, which is not Linux as some mistakenly believe, has also been improved.
Among the kernel changes are improvements to file system drivers, power management, CDFS driver enhancements, improved PXE boot support, and other security improvements. Support for Wine 4.0 , another project that ReactOS draws upon, has also been added.
