Reading in G+ I was struck by an application that the company Yoyo I was commenting, which aims to capture and record everything that happens on our computer screen.
Is voko screen, a very simple application but that offers us various options to screencast, since it allows us to record the full screen, a specific window or simply the area we want.
To the delight of many, versions are available for Debian, Ubuntu y openSUSE. We can save the video in .avi or .mkv format, hide the cursor, start recording as soon as we minimize voko screen, and even send the last video taken by email.
All the binaries are included in the same file that we can download from the official site:
I was going to put a video that I made, but the fucking YouTube It turns everything gray for me .. so no way, whoever wants to see it downloads it from here 😀
The video you recorded looks very good, do you notice any striking differences between this application and (qt-) recordmydesktop?
Well, I have not tried qtrecordmydesktop ...
O_O… great, does it record the audio that is running on the system the same? If he does that it would be the host 😀
Yes.
I saw it in the Manjaro community, it is interesting: 3
I like!!!! Too bad I can't mute the microphone from the program… But excellent application.
It looks interesting but how do I install it in Fedora? or do you know another that is in the Fedora repo? sorry, I don't know much about linux 🙂
most likely the openSUSE RPM will work for you
I don't know if it's available for Rosa
Kazam has never failed me and this one did not really work for me 🙁 apart from the fact that the graphical interface seems a bit ugly to me.
Hi Elav. Good thing, another alternative for GTKRecordMyDesktop and Kazaam. Thanks for sharing.
Commentary «offtopic». I use LibreOffice Writer, but since I write in two languages, the dictionary, spelling and interface settings usually play tricks on me. So I said to myself, "why don't you install Abiword and use it with one language, while reserving LibreOffice for the other?" Good idea! Although I had not had a good experience the last time I used that word processor ...
When trying to install Abiword from the Xubuntu 12.10 Software Center, most of the reviews were negative. Surprise! A comment said that it was a good program, but that the stable version (2.8) would have to be installed because the one from the repositories (2.9.2 + svn) is the development one and gives many errors.
I searched online and yes - there are many users unhappy with the error in the Ubuntu repositories. Unfortunately, so far I have not found a solution. And the worst: users who complain because the error is also in the repositories (I don't know if this is correct) of Xfce.
I know you don't use Xfce anymore, but you keep in touch with the development team. Could you communicate this problem to him? And if it's not too much to ask (since you like to find out how to fix bugs), could you write an article (or entrust it to someone on the team) on how to install Abiword 2.8 on Debian and derivatives?
Thanks for your attention. 😉
Sinceramente Abiword Although I liked it for its lightness, I never used it because I always had a different problem. Not a bad app, but it goes. LibreOffice It is not perfect either, in Ubuntu 12.04 it is now happening to me that, in many of the machines at work where I have it installed, it is giving problems when opening documents that have accents and spaces in the file name.
Solution? Well use CalligraWhat happens is that its interface is a bit shocking. I don't really think it's a mistake Xfcebut the application in question. Anyway I will find out to see what is happening 😀
As always, thank you for your responses to my comments. The error is from the Ubuntu repositories. Among what I found, I read that in Fedora they have version 2.8, so their users do not have the same problem with Abiword.
For my personal situation, I considered Calligra, but since it is a complete office "suite" of which I would only use the word processor, it does not seem like a convenient option. That is why I wanted to bet on Abiword.
Ah, another thing I read out there, is that apparently the project is abandoned. They haven't released a new stable version for a while. What a regret. For now, I am not complaining about LibreOffice, I will continue to use it. What I don't like is the tangles I go through every time I change languages.
Happy weekend and see you later.
the internal audio capture works, but makes it weird, I mean it ends up sounding slower, like an old cassette.
Thanks for the program 🙂 the problem I have is that the video is accelerated, very accelerated, yours looks correct in real time, I don't know why it is in fins ...
Ummm .. Let's try and see how!
Regards!
[... start recording as soon as we minimize Vokoscreen ...] actually what it does is minimize vokoscreen by clicking on the "start" button, what happens is that the translation in the graphic interface was wrong. I have corrected the Spanish and Italian translations and sent them to the developer, who will implement them in the prox. version.
Anyway, I compiled it with the included fixes and made the deb package that can be downloaded from the following link:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/11816130/vokoscreen_1.4.5-1%7Equantal1_i386.deb
I must say that it works better than FdesktopRecorder and integrates very well with KDE, it even supports Oxygen-transparent transparencies.
It records me well although it is a bit accelerated and does not fit with the audio: S.
I have used several of these programs and always the same problem: Gray screen when uploading it to youtube.
Does anyone know the reason? I need it to create tutorials.
Do you know of any alternative to youtube that goes well with this program?
Thank you.
I use crunchbang and it throws me an error when installing the package and if I try with the repository after the update it is not found ...
use atube catcher here is the link: http://www.atubecatcher.es/
