Reposition the eOS dock

Testing ElementaryOS I took on the task of changing the position of the dock, and I realized that we still don't have any graphical utility to change its position so I translate the information found in this site:

Command to reposition the dock:

sed -i 's/Position=[0-3]/Position=1/g' ~/.config/plank/dock1/settings

Replace Position = "1" by the one that interests us:

"0" = Left
«1» = Right
«2» = Up
«3» = Down

We can also edit the file, ~ / .config / plank / dock1 / settings and replace the line:

Position=''

I left it on the left side:

Interesting, thanks for the tip 🙂

You can also save this if you install Elementary-Tweaks 😉

      I didn't know elav, I'll prove it.

Still, sometimes I prefer to touch files manually, but it's good to know that there are simpler ways :)

            O_O… NO… ME… I… CAN… BELIEVE !!!!!!
What do you do in Ubuntu? WTF !!

It's the Firefox User Agent in ElementaryOS 😀 because I have this Ubuntu-derived thing installed on the big PC 😛

[elav runs away so they don't burn him at the stake]

Taking into account that it uses the same ubuntu repository and that firefox in ubuntu comes with the ubuntu user agent, as normal xd

eOS is overly reliant on Ubuntu (especially the Launchpad). And by the way, good joke the one that Ubuntu's Firefox made you.

That can be done graphically from Elementary Tweaks 🙂

    All the best

I did it from elementary-tweaks, but the data is still good.

    Thanks for this!… (^_^)

I couldn't do it with elementaryTweaks, maybe this will work. Although it won't last that long on my PC, it gets too hot.
    Again, thank you very much.

    Greetings.

That is why I always prefer to do the configurations in the files, by terminal, because the graphic applications can fail hehe.

      1.    edgar.kchaz said

Or it could also be that an idiot like me has not noticed that it can be done with elementaryTweaks hahaha, that happened to me the first time (no bad vibes) ... Although yes, graphic applications fail me a lot. So…

That is why I, as a seasoned newbie (failure after failure), recommend all children to use the terminal 😀…

You would have put it "Change Plank's position" that way it looks more universal.

Very good tip to handle the eOS.

And by the way, the eOS Firefox is the same as Ubuntu. The truth is that this user agent is there to burn it and throw it into the river.

Hahahaha you reminded me of Mox, from Whatdafaqshow hahaha, with that "burn him and throw him into the river"…. Sorry about the off-topic.

Very bad I see not polishing that detail. Especially because I'm fascinated by the "e" in elementary.

To tell the truth, it is my favorite webshow. Either way, he's one of the Peruvian vloggers that really makes me have a good time laughing.

The same and I know with elementary-tweaks you can configure the position of the plank. No?

Thanks for the information, I wanted to do that but didn't know how.

  10.   DanielC said

Easier, better put the elementary update PPA and install elementary-tweaks. xD
