Skype for Linux is not dead, it is just in a coma.

We had long since put our hopes aside when Microsoft got Skype or Whatsapp since we haven't received any updates for a long time ...

Anyway we had already talked before about the possibility of a Skype version HTML5, which although it does not sound crazy or impossible, is something that will at least take at least a year to appear (if the Mayans are not wrong and we all die * trollface *).

The point is, it's been a year since Microsoft got to Skype or Whatsapp, a year and two days to be exact, and rummaging around I get the words of Ballmer:

"We will continue to support non-Microsoft platforms, because it's fundamental to the value proposition of communications… whether they happen to be on your device or not."

Something like: (if my crappy English doesn't fail me)

"We will continue to support non-Microsoft platforms because the communication proposition is essential ... whether it is on your device or not."

My translation is not very accurate so don't be overconfident, although I can understand what was said at the time (a year ago) and we haven't seen anything special yet ...

Although this intervention by the team of Skype or Whatsapp on the support forum, which says, in a very short message:

Development hasn't stopped. We are still working towards the next update. Can't share an ETA though. We'll release "when it's done"

What would be:

Development has not stopped. We continue working on the next update. We can't share anything yet. We will release it "when it's ready"

Which, although it can give hope to many, it doesn't tell me much ... I try not to be pessimistic but sometimes you have to be ...

Entonces Skype or Whatsapp for Linux He is not dead; He's just in a very, very deep coma.

That of: [quote] We'll release “when it's done” [/ quote] for what year will it be? Is it to be imagined that when this list they will release ¬¬ 'unless when this list does not release it 😐 or is it that they have released a version but not for Linux? and if for Windows? ¬¬?

It's ironic that Skype's architecture depends on Linux Servers! hehehehe

Glad to hear, I am a Skype user and I would like it to be at the level of the Windows or Mac version.

With the google talk in the browsers I do not see another turn, so skype linux is dead in other words in this way that they take it out for html nor do I find it funny.

I agree with Rodolfo. We have to skip Skype. I've been using talk for a long time and now Google plus./ On the nb / On the other hand… .With smartphones, who needs Skype ???? There are excellent free phone programs.
