Slowmovideo or how to create slow motion videos

slowmoVideo is an application developed in Qt for Linux and Windows that allows you to create beautiful slow motion videos. In addition, this great tool allows you to speed up the video by applying motion blur.

This is one of those cases where a picture is worth a thousand words. To get an idea of the effects that can be achieved with slowmoVideo, I attach a video created by the developer himself:

As you can see, the application does not offer a lot of functionality. Instead, it applies the UNIX philosophy: It does one thing but does it well.

Installation

En Ubuntu and derivatives:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa: brousselle / slowmovideo sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install slowmovideo
Caution: there are no packages available for Ubuntu 14.04 yet, only for older versions.

En Arch and derivatives:

yaourt -S slowmovideo-git

Those who use other distributions (Fedora, OpenSUSE, etc.) can follow the instructions detailed in the Official Site of the project.

For more information on how to use slowmovideo I recommend reading the official documentation.

Spectacular, although it can be used to create videos in slow motion without the need for kdenlive or Adobe Premiere.

Not to mention the spectacular videos that you could create with the goals of the World Cup! Haha

I liked the presentation. Now it's a matter of testing it, I guess the video should have a good amount of fps for the best result.

Xubuntu, is Ubuntu but with XFCE as a "native" desktop, hence "X" ubuntu. 🙂
