subdownloader is an excellent multiplatform program (available for Windows, Mac and Linux) that allows us to choose a movie or a folder where our movies are stored and, as if by magic, it downloads all the corresponding subs and gives them the same name.

SubDownloader follow the KISS principle (Keep It Simple - make it easy). Do you want to see a movie or a chapter of your favorite series? Well then, finding and matching subtitles for those video files should be a simple task.
subdownloader use the file type, size and name to locate the proper subtitle in the language we select. With this data the program associates the video file with an entry in IMDB and, through it, download the appropriate subtitle hosted on opensubtitles.org.
An advantage of SubDownloader is that can add entire folder, with which it can be used to search for subtitles of several files at the same time, for example of several episodes of your favorite series.
Finally, if you have subtitles for a file, from SubDownloader you can also upload them to Opensubtitles. For this you need to register (registration is free).
SubDownloader supports the following formats: DivX, MPEG, AVI, VOB and DVDs.
The last aspect that I find super interesting to mention is the distribution method that the program has: For Windows users, the program is shareware (use is allowed only x 15 days), while for those who use Linux it is free. Honestly, it seems to me that it is an original strategy worthy of being imitated, since it encourages the use of Linux. It is like putting candy in front of a child. =)
