Subor Z + the new Chinese game console with AMD technology

Subor Z +

Subor Z + is a new Chinese game console which aims to fight directly against the Sony PS4 Pro, the Microsoft Xbox One X and the Nintendo Switch. At least the hardware and features that we are getting to know about this new video game station seem like it. Gamers will surely be very attentive to Subor Z + movements, although perhaps it will become something similar to Valve's Steam Machine, which made a lot of noise at first and ended up dying little by little ...

Subor Z + has some characteristics similar to existing consoles, for example, its physiognomy is similar to that of the Steam Machine, that is, it is almost a Video game pc packaged in a box like that of game consoles. In this case it will work with the Windows 10 IoT Enterprise Edition operating system, something that in my opinion could have some limitations, but don't worry, because I have good news for Linux users. With it, about 4 TFLOPS will be achieved, almost the same as for Sony's that reaches 4.2 and a little behind the 6 of Microsoft's.

AMD has worked on creating a semi-custom SoC which integrates a special quad-core Ryzen CPU for Zhogshan. Zen cores will run at 3Ghz with 24-CU Radeon Vega for the GPU running at 1.3Ghz and with 8GB GDDR5. An SoC that has little to envy that of the PS4 or Xbox One, and far surpassing that of the Nintendo. Being based on the Zen microarchitecture, compared to other older microarchitectures of its competitors, it promises good performance, including a good working bandwidth.

You will also have 128GB of SSD or up to 1TB optional, WIFI, Bluetooth 4.1, four 3.0 and two 2.0 ports, HDMI 2.0, 4K, a Subor Controller as a command, a very low consumption () 0w) and low heat dissipation compared to its competitors , ultra-thin design, possibilities for VR, wide catalog of compatible video games and Exclusive AAA titles for her, and a price that is estimated at about $ 732. And the good news for linuxers? Well, because of the drivers that we see from AMD and the rest of the hardware, it will be relatively easy to install any Linux distro (and of course SteamOS) on it or even in dualboot to be able to enjoy it more freely.

This is the worst note I read, it does not talk about free software, or open source software, or free technologies, or Linux. Absolutely nothing related to the site and / or its name.

If AMD were doing something for Linux as you hinted in the note, the first thing that would have to be known or reported is its compatibility with it, which does not happen.

First of all, AMD drivers for Linux are available. AMD has employees dedicated to Linux driver development and also people who contribute to the kernel, in case you didn't know ... I don't think other companies like Intel or NVIDIA are doing much more ... (despite having much higher budgets than those of AMD). And I found it interesting to know that there is going to be a new video game console in which to install Linux, and even more so if we take into account that Valve seems to be working on a compatibility layer to be able to install Microsoft Windows video games on Linux ...

These types of comments do not nurture, they do not contribute anything. Constructive criticism is good, I don't think this ...
