News in the first supercomputers in July 2011

It is not a secret that GNU / Linux es a winner by wide margin in the market of Supercomputersalright Unix as GNU / Linux, Free software/Open Source has a wide advantage.

However, many of us are not satisfied simply with this, since we want to know if our distro is present in this market, either supporting Debian, Red Hat, suse linux, or some other.

It happens that in the last listing (June 2011) you can appreciate the supremacy of GNU / Linux obviously, but in the first 10 places there is variation in terms of distros:

For SLES (Suse Linux Enterprise Server), which continues to gain business use and credibility despite some uncertainty from the acquisition of attachmate, this fell from a total of 38 systems and 34 on the last list.

Also, I should point out that despite its No. 2 position in the enterprise server market, SLES has long been a leader in the distribution of Linux y OS singles on the Top500 list.

As for the RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux), its representation on 9 supercomputing systems in 2010 dropped to 6 systems on the most recent list. I should also point out that it is certainly the representation of both RHEL y SLESas well as their community cousins Fedora y OpenSUSE, in the generic category of Linux the vast majority of the Top500 list, since it represents the 82,6% systems. From this we can deduce that our Debian It is not as present as we would like, personally I think that justice is not done T_T

CentOS is increasingly as a superior option for supercomputing systems, although the clone of Red Hat Enterprise Linux it slid from 7 points on last year's Top500 list to 6 points this year.

Without a doubt the users of Red Hat, derivatives or the like may be happy. When I was writing this article, elav he commented to me that the almost null presence of Debian it may be because there is no CIA (company) behind this distro as is the case with Red Hat y suse linux.

However, and although his argument has some logic, I would still like him to change things a little 😉

Well thank you all for reading us.

regards

Why don't they use Slackware for servers anymore? It is super stable and Kiss above, so the performance in super computer we can not even imagine
