SuperTuxKart will have a new graphics engine

De Super Tux Kart not much to say, in DesdeLinux ya we've talked enough of this excellent game that becomes the alternative to Mario Kart o Crash Bandicoot.

It turns out that by su Blog We have found out that this addictive game will receive a new graphics engine, which naturally improves its appearance and user experience. The demo video I leave them below, but it does not have the required quality to see the improvements:

Example images of the new SuperTuxKart

That is why on the blog they left us some images, which I put below:

Super Tux Kart

Shadows on the new Chocolate Runway.

Super Tux Kart

Blackhill Mansion track has been improved

Super Tux Kart

Other part of the Chocolate track

Super Tux Kart

Lights in the Old Mine

A new coherent universe and a new style have also begun to be created. This will help people's creativity and increase cohesion between the tracks.

The team has been very busy adding Easter eggs and various hidden references to the clues, which will have to be searched in detail because they are sometimes quite hidden, but here are some images of the data to be found:

Super Tux Kart

Nolok Industries, a fictitious company.

Super Tux Kart

Sara Coat of Arms

Super Tux Kart

Paulo Costa, the president of Val Verde, a fictional country in South America

As you may have noticed, the style has changed a bit: SuperTuxKart will now appear with bright colors and mostly hand-painted textures.

There is still a lot of work to do. With the new graphics engine come changes to the tracks, so it is not yet known if they will modify the existing ones or add new tracks. They also tell us on the blog that there is no need to worry if we have somewhat old video cards, as they are working on making SuperTuxKart work smoothly on any hardware.

Unfortunately we do not know the release date of this new version, so we have to wait. 😀

I also fell like a bucket of cold water that change of graphics engine. I already want to see it available on Steam.

About Paulo Rivera and the Val Verde country…. Isn't it a cruel joke towards Venezuela? (I bet @nano will be laughing at that detail).

Anyway, I'll test it on my netbook (trying to get Steam working without PulseAudio bores me).

Valverde is any Caribbean step, why Venezuela?

Of course, I meant that he was not an original character from the game.

The previous versions seemed made for Android tablets. Now, it looks like a decent PC game.

I would like to see the game using an engine like Source or Unity, but that would take away the fact that it is free.

Without a doubt a necessary renovation, although we hope the requirements do not skyrocket too much.
Great job these guys do to bring us versions, more and more complete of this essential racing game.

It looks great with the new engine although the moon at times looks more like a lighthouse.

Peazo change the graphics engine, but knew that it is for linux I would think that it is a normal and current game for windows. It seems that little by little the games are becoming more polished and with more level of detail

It's a great game and a lot of fun. I like the farm track, especially the music hehe.

I read that a system was recently implemented that allowed creating tracks from OpenStreetMap. Will the change of the graphics engine affect the mentioned feature?

What a good idea, to recreate cities too.
