Several companies already sell computers with GNU/Linux distributions pre-installed or without an operating system at all, giving users greater freedom of choice instead of forcing them to purchase a Microsoft Windows license (included in the price) even if they later intend to remove it and install another operating system. We are all familiar with these types of brands; System76 and the Spanish brand Slimbook are some prominent examples in this sector.
Well, today we're here to tell you about some new features regarding one of System76's products: their Darter Pro laptop . This portable device has just been updated with some new features you'll like. For more information, you can visit this official page where you'll find more details about this product. The current update offers greater battery life ; your battery will now last a bit longer (a few extra hours, up to about 7 hours) so you can enjoy its portability for a longer period. In addition to this improvement, there will be other enhancements in other areas of the Linux-based device. It will be available for purchase in just a few days, so for now, the link I've included in the previous paragraph will only provide information.
Besides the larger battery, it will come with a choice of 8th Generation Intel Core i5 or i7 CPUs, an Intel UHD Graphics 620 chip, up to 32GB of RAM, a 2TB M.2 SATA SSD, USB 3.1 with Thunderbolt 3, HDMI, MiniDP, a 15″ screen, a card reader, Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi, a webcam, and more. It will also ship with Intel ME (firmware) disabled by default to prevent future vulnerabilities. You can choose between the Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Bionic Beaver) operating system or System76's own Pop!_OS distribution.
